I was told by a "famous" person that it doesn't matter about the reach or size it matters about the genuine love or interest in the artist you interview that got him and many others to do small channels, stations, papers, etc. And when they do it you see them thrive and do well because genuinely nice people thrive.

Crazy how he talked to the dude just RIGHT before that group he was also in by the way but whatever would become one of the most important music groups to ever release music, and that the album he said would be out in a month would be the beginning of a movement that paved the way to the rap game we have today!

This is so awesome. Me and a friend kinda did the same back in the mid 90s but it was to the Detroit Lions front office and wound up getting the OC Dave Levy and then the HC Wayne Fontes. We spent the rest of the week going down to the school office calling all these different team offices trying to get through eventually to an actual player. We did get returns from the Red Wings, Pistons, Steelers, Admirals (Milwaukee IHL team) and a few others. There's a crazy story about Steve O meeting Motley Crue because he spent like 4 hours calling all the hotels trying to find em and he did.

What you guys don't understand is, at that time NOTHING good came out of Compton. Until then nobody had any vision of getting out the hood. Once we saw someone could make it out, it gave the rest of us hope. It made us realize that we had value too. We weren't just doomed to kill ourselves there. We could make it out and not just live out our lives in the ghetto. It was really exciting to know there was a way out even if it wasn't music.

Reminds me when I was 15 I did a research paper that was 40% of our English final. It was in careers. Being that my dad ran an indie wrestling promotion, I was able to make a call, that lead me to another call, and higher and higher up I got until I had CM Punk's cell phone number. Luckily the wrestler who gave me his number prefaced Punk and reminded him that they both had met me several times when they were still up and coming wrestlers in the indie circuit. Because I was able to remind the other wrestler (Colt Cabana) about a few pictures they took with me at a show for ROH back in like 2004 or 05 (can't remember off top) they were more than happy to get interviewed. Once my teacher realized I had a literal interview with a world famous wrestler who was on TV one or two times a week EVERY WEEK, I instantly got a 100 (the paper was actually pretty good imo)
