Mine is still going strong too. I did find that the gauge is more accurate if you turn the compressor off first. If I'd read the manual it actually states to expect inaccurate readings whilst the compressor is running. I guess it makes sense. I still don't rely on it though. thanks again for the comment

I've had one of these for a few years and have had no problems at all, other than that the shitty gauge gave up on the first trip out. (I never trusted it's accuracy anyway). Yes they get hot but so do most of the others. It has had quite a workout at times on some trips in the SA bush and I'd trust it as much as any other compressors I've ever used. Believe me from bitter experience, even the expensive big name ones crap themselves too.

Good vid, love the dog, he's great. I use a weany little single piston pump one. Burned one out, melted the on-off switch on the other one. Obvs, the double ones run for a lot less time, so they last longer I think. 15 minutes to fill a Volvo tyre, too long for the pump. Thanks.

sorry for the delay. there are a few options. The simplest way is to look for a 240/12v power supply which has a cigarette lighter socket on the front. If you're in Aus dicksmiths or jaycar would have them.

With the pressure gauge you need to stop the compressor to read the tire pressure and not the line pressure.

a mate just got the thumper 2. the pressure cut off stopped working but has come good again. seems to go pretty hard.

Lawn needs mowing ! :-) Have one of these twin piston pumps bought a few years ago from a company that makes all sorts of tools and they had a twin piston Gold series with a heavy duty yellow pipe. One of the advantages is that it has a knurled knob where you can set the desired pressure . When the tyre pressures are reached the pump goes into "free wheeling mode" so that it doesnt over inflate the tyre. The Gauges on the all of these pumps are totally incorrect . Never had a tyre pump that doesn`t have an accurate gauge.

Steinwaygrande That it did. Have moved a few time since and you will be happy to know my backyard is now well cared for :) That function would be a nice idea. The pump hose/guage would be easy enough to swap out if you were that way inclined. I keep the other guage in the car anyway. so no biggie . cheers

hi den,i have the exact compressor,had in for around a year,goes great,but same thing,reads around 10 pound under,but ive put a texta on so i know for 40 pound on my 4by,i dont have a dual battery on my 4by,but use my deep cycle battery so i can get closer to my tyres,as i feel the hose is a touch short,thanks again mate, daz

DAZ DAZZA seems it should read accurately if you stop it and take a reading. Haven't tried it though.

+David Topchiev Yes, Its worth taking note on how hot it is before chucking it back in the car. I woudln't say it is any worse than any other compressor pushing so much air. Is physics really. Unless they have huge heat sinks, it's just going to happen.

David Topchiev thats not likely the case. youre thinking its getting hot cuz the voltage is higher with the engine running. its gonna get hot no matter what. it would really be unhappy with too little volts.

No complaints here from me at all. I'd be more than comfortable to lend it to a mate who doesnt have one and be confident it would work for them no probs. cheers for the comment.

Can't say that I've had to, no. I was on Stockton beach a few weeks ago and had the tires down to 16psi and told a mate I was going to use my compressor. When I told him how much I'd paid for it he said he wasn't waiting an hour for me to do my tires. I bet him I could do all 4 up to 35psi for the run to the servo (still rough ground but not sand) in under 10 minutes. So he pulled out his iphone and started timing it...........let's just say he owes me a case of beer.

hey! i'm looking to buy an air compressor too for my first off road 4wd adventure on sand in NSW. I see the exact similar on Ebay and websites Would you recommend these type of ones? I see a 12V air compressor for around $70 for 65LPM 150 PSI on ebay and other random selling websites I looked @ supercheap auto and they cost like $150 for 70 LPM output 150 PSI - very very expensive i've trying to shop around for something decent to pump forestor road tyres back to normal after a beach drive and i know those cheap $14 300 PSI 12V ones are rubbish and will only pump sports balls

Hi, yeah mate. Mine is still going strong. I used it just this weekend just gone and it worked as expected. so its just gone 5 years old. The bag has fallen apart but the compresser is perfect. I was in the same mind when I picked this one up thinking it could be rubbish but I took a shot. I can only tell you how mine has worked and let you make up your own mind but based on my experience, I would say grab one. Its certainly many times quicker than the single pump items I've used and for what appeared to be a near identical item from supercheap its a no brainer.

definitely, I used to do exactly that. I'd say yes but it's not water proof if you plan on water crossings. It's also a big unit, so you'd need to have plenty of room to fit it under there. I considered that myself but was no where for it to fit. Mine is still working in the shed but I picked up a quicker one that I use now.

Please save your money..150p.s.i. Woking pressure is a scam.Mine does not build up more than 50 p.s.i and get,s too hot .Also,I found screws inside the crankshaft..possible employee Sabotage. This Machine is very cheaply build and will not last long

cheers for the comment on your experience. Mine is now over 7 years old and still going strong. You can see it in the recent comparison video I did here kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3PFlICse9aBiNk It's not as fast compared to some of the newer offerings but it's been used plenty to inflate 33" tires to around the 50psi mark and has done so without issue. So there are better options out there now for roughly the same money as I paid back then but I can't complain for the service it has provided me over the years. For me it was money well spent. Obviously though, this has just been my experience. It sounds like you got a real lemon. cheers
