Real quick note - On the fuel pump relay, you mentioned that the ECU probably sends about 5v to the relay on the green wire so that the relay will send the full 12v out to the fuel pump on the red wire. The idea here is correct but instead of different volts it is amps that are different. The relay's electro-magnet draws a small amp load of current to operate so the green 12v wire is a smaller gauge since it is only handling the small amp load; however, the fuel pump pulls a much larger amp load of 12v power when it is running. Because of this, the 12v red feed wire to the pump must be a larger gauge to handle the larger 12v amp load. Being able to control devices that draw a lot of current through the use of small gauge switch wires is one of the main uses for relays.

I’m using a standalone harness for an ls1 and I can’t get spark. I have rpm signal, injector signal but no spark to start the engine. Anyone had an issue like this? Also, there is ground and positive at the coil harness as well as constant 12v on the pink wire on the coil harness. I’m at a loss right now. Any help is appreciated!
@JovaniDanteGriegoАй бұрын
@@javfernandez4695 I'd say check grounds, once I had to rewire the ground in a cheap harness, there's differences in some setups for o2 sensors and it can effect the way things are grounded. Sometimes it's best to add your own ground
@javfernandez4695Ай бұрын
The big ground near the cam sensor is in and so is the one for the ecu, the two red wires with the ring terminals are on battery posititive. I can get the engine to turn over, activate fuel pump and make the injectors spray but I can’t for the life of me get any spark.

@javfernandez4695 you have vats deleted right?
@javfernandez4695Ай бұрын
@@JovaniDanteGriegoyes, idk if it would cut spark though if it was activated. I always thought it would cut injectors from firing if it wasn’t.

@javfernandez4695 you're correct. But just making sure you've done it. It still could be tune related can you pull any codes?

Thanks for the great video Jovani, I have the China CNCH-3250 harness for my LQ4 swap and it works 100%, but there's something that I can't wrap my head around. Everyone mentions connecting both positive lugs onto the + starter terminal. My harness came with a large and small ring lug in the lead that goes to the starter, so I connected the large ring to the starter positive (batt+) and the smaller ring to starter solenoid trigger. That small ring is wired directly to the starter relay in the CNCH fusebox that came with the harness (I traced it back), so it makes sense that you are supposed to connect your old starter wire from your key to that relay, and then that triggers the starter, or am I missing something here?
@JovaniDanteGriego2 жыл бұрын
I think typically in older vehicles there is a wire going from the key switch directly to the starter. I can't remember now but I believe both should go to the positive side of the starter. That one going to the solenoid would only get power when it's cranking. But maybe they changed the wiring on it. I've heard some of the newer ones just don't work so it could be a manufacturing thing

My transmission isn’t shifting into 3 and 4, is there any wires in the bundle of wires that run to trans that need power?
@JovaniDanteGriego3 жыл бұрын
There are power wires in that trans plug, but not sure which ones and they should be powered through the harness, pink wires are usually 12v switched and orange is usually 12v constant

My eBay harness didn’t come with the oil pressure sensor or the evap sensor, what can I do?
@JovaniDanteGriego2 жыл бұрын
You don't use those on a swap. Or at least most people don't. Evap gets deleted usually. Also do you mean oil level sensor? The one on the oil pan?
@johnsepulveda6502 жыл бұрын
@@JovaniDanteGriego thanks for the reply! Good to know, and about the oil pressure sensor it’s behind the intake manifold. The oil level sensor on the pan didn’t come with the kit either, I’m guessing it’s also not needed?

@@johnsepulveda650 yea I don't remember if mine had a oil pressure sensor. Any sensor can be easily added though, just buy the ECU pins and the right gauge wire, and run it to the appropriate pins on the ECU
