Fitting my Chinese diesel heater in my Volkswagen Campervan .
this heater was from ebay and is a 5kw with wireless lcd controller. Turret plate is also from ebay . As the fuel pump can be noisy i hung it with zip ties to make it quiet. i will link all items that i used very soon.
Hole saw size is 127mm.
Also o am pleased to offer a discount code for MaxpeedingRods heaters, discount code is - tvl2021
Please like and Subscribe for more .
ps I am very aware that it's 45 degrees and not 90 degrees, we all make mistakes so please stop mentioning it because it's getting boring now 🥱😴😂
Hope you are all safe and protecting yourselves from Coronavirus.

i'm sitting here watching this AMAZINGLY helpful video and realizing there's no corny music or fancy editing to make me feel like I am living your life with you, there's no fancy catchy intro, no logo. There's just no wasted effort, no wasted breath, no wasted anything. It's just purely helpful, and when I realized that, that is when I knew that you had less than 10k subscribers. Lo and behold LOL.... ppl don't generally want to learn from youtubers, they want to live vicariously through them. I want to learn. Therefore, SUBSCRIBED

I think I caught 2 items you should change- change out fuel line for the white stiffer version, and, reverse the direction of the fuel filter. Thanks for posting your clear video.

You mean the pump should be under in order for it not to struggle while pumping gas, right ? :)
@DJJonPattrsn22

@@dellawrence4323 No, the fuel pump MUST be pointing up (at least 15°, ideally 45°, up to 90° (vertical, perpendicular to floor)! The pump has an air/bubble elimination feature which requires that orientation! I don't think I really understand what you mean about not having it pump "away" from the fuel; I can't imagine how or why you would set it up in any other way...

Didn't help with my issue, my fuel tank came with no hole for the fuel nipple. How do I sort that?
@michaelwright6304

My top tips would be: Use a metal pipe for the intake pipe too. Mine came with a carboardy foily one and it perished after a year and the whole heater had to come out to replace it. Put some shielding around the fuel pipe near the exhaust so it doesn't melt from the heat of the exhaust.

Good video , a few points I was told by a mechanic was that it's best to prime the fuel pump and line to the pump before starting to lubricate it otherwise it is running dry until it eventually sucks fuel through which could shorten its life , the exhaust silencer should be mounted vertically with the drain hole it has at the bottom and positioned so the exhaust gas is not existing under the van and the exhaust has a slight downward fall along its length so no water traps . And finally get yourself a Co2 alarm just to be on the safe side.
@evelbsstudio
@evelbsstudio 2 жыл бұрын
I agree as there self lubricating fuel pumps.. The idea of the pump been lower than the fuel tank is that once its primed it will never need to do it again unless you totally run out of ⛽️ fuel
@MrHercules222
@MrHercules222 2 жыл бұрын
That would be true if it were a gear or vane pump, but these little "click-clack" solenoid pumps can run dry for a very long time without damage. I would still prime up the pump before hooking up the fuel line to the heater just because it will prime a lot faster with an open line.

It won't be long before you move the fuel pump to another position. That ply panel will act like a sounding board and amplify the pump tick tick noise. Move it below floor level and fix it to a chassis rail with as much rubber buffering as you can manage.

@74willy81
@74willy81 3 жыл бұрын
Great video, Thanks! Not sure if this has been mentioned but the fuel filter is installed backwards. If you turn it around you will have a greater surface area to collect debris. The way it is installed now only yields the smaller surface area of the inside of the element to unfiltered fuel. This is why filters are directional.This is more important on a pleated filter than a mesh one, however installed correctly there will be a larger area for debris to collect and will yield longer intervals between filter change being required.

I have a vauxhall vivaro the unit is going under the passenger seat (plenty of room) as I still have the bulk head it will reduce noise into the back and I can pop the heat vent thru a hole in the bulk head. Fuel pump going under the van in a water proof box (noise) so fingers crossed! Fuel tank not to sure yet. Really handy to refure back to your video 👍🏁

Ive had issues with the pump been higher than the unit . The pump creates miniture air bublels and they turn into one bid air bubble in the line . And ultimately stops the unit . The fuel tank can be up high though that doesn't matter .. just the outlet of pump lower than the unit so it pumps up to the unit. And now I'm watching those very tiney bublels just go up to the unit up the green hose that was supplied with it . It doesn't stop running now . No big air locks.

Have you tried mounting the pump onto a rubber cotyon reels to deaden the noise.

Hi Tommy just watched this you explain everything in simple terms which is great for a beginner like me. Is there anything you can suggest for making the pump quieter I don't think I'd be able to sleep with that clicking sound going in all night. Cheers

Great video and thanks, a quick question, what device did you use at the bottom of the fuel tank to keep the pipe in place and to stop leaks etc. My kit didn't come with anything

Very nice, clear and informative. Does it have a thermostat? ie so it switches off when it gets to the set 27C, and back on again when the temp drops below?
@LT_TOMMY_
@LT_TOMMY_ 3 жыл бұрын
Hello mate , yes it has a thermostat, once it reaches set temperature it slows right down rather than cutting out completely 👍

Hi Tommy, Looking good. Any difference between the new heater compared to your old one. Little grommet around the fuel pipe might be good? 🤟

Morning mate , ive put a lil grommit around it , just waited for the paint to dry first 👍 Not sure in difference yet mate , literally had it running for 20 mins when i installed it ... Seems a bit quieter compared to the 2kw

Is there an English version of the video as well? Just kidding 😂 (I'm Swiss, so struggled a bit with the accent) great video! I now have more confidence installing the heater on our camper. Cheers!

Absolutely no problem at all, the heat output is the only thing that gets hot inside the van and its facing away. Have you seen how compact the all in one heaters are?

Well explained intelligent video. I am just wondering if the 5 KW you used would be OK for my Renault Traffic and not over kill, which brand heater did you use?

Great video. Makes it look easy. The pump sounded like it continues to knock after priming?? Is that true and if so is it noisy and noticeable?? Thanks 1 year late🤣
@LT_TOMMY_

Hi , yes it continues to pump and can be noisy if screwed to interior of van , I personally hang my pump with cable ties and it's almost silent 👍

Great video, thanks. I looked through the comments and noticed that you run this on a leisure/house battery for a few days before it runs flat, but I didn't see you mention how big your battery and / or battery bank is, how many amp hours is your leisure battery / bank, and what chemistry is it (AGM, flooded lead acid, lithium iron phospate, etc)?? And if your battery is a battery bank, like how an RV is setup with 6x 6volt golf cart AGM batteries in series-parallel, how many batteries do you have in your battery bank?

Nice vid but can't believe how much voltage it's using, may as well just buy a 150w 12v heater and 120 ah agm battery

It's usually 2kw or 5kw, I'd personally go for a 5kw but they would both do the job mate 👍🏼
