Hugh, sometimes the RSoD on the iPhone 5s is caused by the front camera or battery. One time I had a 5s that had the RSoD but the cable on the battery was damaged and when I put in a new battery and unplugged the front camera it turned on. So keep in mind that some RSoD iPhone 5s is caused by the front camera, not the NAND Flash Storage on the board.

I totally understand your point of view regarding the activation lock, but take into account that the current activation lock essentially kills the stolen phone market. This is specially important for countries with really high crime rates. Still they can salvage the parts but not the phone as a whole, and this essentially helps to keep your information safe and your phone from ever being sold again after being stolen. The only thing I would change is to add easily accesible contact info so that the owner could potentially unlock the device for the purposes you propose while still keeping the phones away from the stolen market.
@kenmastersmaster2 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't protect shit. Anybody can sell you a phone then report it stolen 6 months later to get insurance money, even if you legit paid for the phone, then it becomes blacklisted. You have to admit though, most iCloud locked phones you see are stolen. Excellent video Hugh as ever, love your channel. However this is a rare time I’m going to disagree with you about activation lock. It is a complete pain if someone genuinely did intend to sell their phone and forgot to unlock it, but otherwise the beauty is it takes a massive incentive away from anyone hoping to steal a phone. I’m not saying it would stop them entirely, but it does provide a huge disincentive because by design it cannot be removed without the owners consent. Even a 90 day grace period would make the phone hugely more valuable to thieves willing to bide their time. So for me, it has to stay, as annoying it can be for the wrong reasons. A better solution might be better software integration, for example a UI prompt if someone tries to reset their phone asking them what they’re planning to do and suggesting they may wish to disable activation lock and better still provide some suggestions for avoiding the phone becoming e waste.

So uh... I don't know what brand that mount plate is from, but I've never encountered adhesive that's too strong to remove. I usually have the opposite problem where the adhesive sticker peels off over time and I literally have to just slip the plate between my case and my phone. Also, phone mounts are very helpful for people who drive to new places a lot. It's better than trying to navigate a paper map while you're driving because you missed the expected exit, and exponentially safer since the entire point is to put it in a spot you can glance at like your mirrors. You shouldnt be interacting with your phone while your driving, that's true. But needing to look at a map on your phone isn't exactly a problem, at least not anymore than having to glance at your rear view, or side view.

11:37 I have a question about the home button, so my iPhone 7 Plus screen is cracked and I have to replace it, and when I transfer my home button to the new screen, will I lose any functionality?

Of your phones had some sort of mounting sticker on the back of it. I have a friend of mine he uses something very similar to that. It’s not because he wants to sit there and read his text messages and all that’s while he’s driving. He uses his phone for the GPS. So by using the mounting it allows him to be able to use a GPS and keep it at I level if he needs to glance at it.

where do you buy crazy batterys i am in the us and have not been able to find them i would like to try them out i use a lot of batterys

I honestly don’t know how to feel about iCloud lock, there has to be an easier setup perhaps when we get one that’s locked we submit a request, and the previous owner has like 90 days to reply back for the finding of one’s old device. This way the previous owner could get their device back. But if the 90 day limit would expire then the new owner gets to have it iCloud unlocked...this is a serious issue that if enough people voice this concern it would avoid so much e waste and black market for used parts

85% battery capacity is low for an iPhone? I was still using my 6s at 40% battery health. It randomly restarted and would almost always show the wrong battery percentage.

We've seen a few iCloud locked phones come through our shop and there's nothing we can do for them. I feel like there will never be enough voices calling on Apple to remove that feature for them to actually listen.

Yeah I agreee with you Apple should rework that

The adhesive tape under the battery should only be pulled slowly and gradually, because if it breaks, it's difficult to remove the battery, you have to use a separate tool to pull it under the battery, but just be careful not to bend the battery because it can explode, it's a bit difficult and complicated, but only with enough knowledge and experience, anything is possible, all praises for the video, I learned a lot of things👍🏻

What kind of gloves did you wear when you rubbed the adhesive off?
@mick24143 жыл бұрын
He wears the gloves to protect his hands from the shattered glass. The adhesive most likely rubbed off because of the amount of alcohol used to pry off the protector. It are generic working gloves.

@@mick2414 I get used laptops a lot and getting the stickers off is super annoying. Some laptops have a rubberized coating and no matter how gentle I am or what chemicals I use, removing the stickers is a guaranteed way to damage the coating.

Hugh, The red screen flash is a screen problem (at least, most of the time it is) This can be caused by low quality screens

Why didn't you heat up the screen protector to loosen the glue

I have a phone I'm sure you could fix. Galaxy s3 mini that has water damage. It went through the washer and dryer back in 2015 and I still have it. Still "works" too. Don't know how to get half of it fixed or I'd do it myself
