I was in a desperate situation last night. Took a ridiculously low offer not even thinking things through. I have to make this reselling work because I can’t think of anything else that works with my life circumstances.

I restarted my eBay store to help pay off a medical debt, I’ve found that as long as I’m listing at least a few items a day that I still get at least 1 sale a day. It felt like a slow weekend but by Monday (today) I have a stack of 6 outgoing packages (Friday night to Monday morning). I do work full time 50+ hours a week so a smaller store (50-60 items) is what I can handle

😂 you must be selling gold on a discount! I list 14 items five days a week and only a couple on the other two days because I need to do life stuff and my store is NOT selling an item every day.
@iamelcapitan5 сағат бұрын
@@pinkpigletparker8703 I mostly stick to items that have over a 100% sell thru rate. Video games, specific DVDs, vintage toys and some seasonal clothing. I typically price .25-.50 below the next comparable listing. I listed 90 items in Jan and sold 44. Definitely helped raise an extra $800 towards paying off that debt I had.

@@pinkpigletparker8703I have listed between 65-100 items on a monthly basis. It’s been sloooooooowwwww. The really good items sell fairly quickly. But everything else just sits. I have no desire to have 1000 items sitting around waiting for a bid. Every now and then I do the end and sell similar trick. Sometimes it works. Most times, it doesn’t.
@JarredP-c2f2 сағат бұрын
@@pinkpigletparker8703make sure your items have a good STR. I have just over 100 items (part time reseller working 50+ hours a week on my 9-5) and have been averaging an item a day for a few months. I’m horrible at listing and end up just listing 10+ items once a week and still average 1 sale per day

Thanks, i honestly needed to hear these motivational words. I work FT, admin a group, help my best friend with her youtube channel & have an ebay store. On top of all that Ive been dealing with alot of health issues that leave me extremely fatigued. So i’ve been in such a listing rut for a cpl months now. By the time im done with everything else, i just do not have the energy/motivation to list. Im gonna set some small goals for myself. ❤

I noticed when you add new items, then older items sell. I swear it has happened a few times on me. I listed a couple new items, then went to view some of my older items and I could not find one item, that I knew I had listed then I noticed it was in my sold item. It sold right after I listed a new item.

You did okay with that 1958 Chevy model car at $20 plus shipping. There are model cars that are worth hundreds, mint in the box and even as rebuildable old built models. Then there are the old favorites. Your '58 came out in the early 1960s and the molds still exist. That kit has been issued in different boxes over the past 50 years, and recently as well. If yours is a first issue, it may earn a few $$ (I couldn't tell without seeing sides) but otherwise it's pretty common.

What I don’t like is the return time that’s on eBay, it’s way too long. I don’t like people keeping my items for 2 weeks or longer then put in a return! I think 3 to 7 days is enough time for someone to know whether they want to keep an item or not. After that time the sale should be complete, in my opinion. When I buy something I know immediately whether I want it and if I don’t, I immediately put in a return for it.
@timslawncare59049 сағат бұрын
I agree 100%, Mercari gives the buyer 3 days and then the order is completed.

@Serendipity_Glows9 сағат бұрын
I disagree. I've purchased many things on ebay over the years. Sometimes life gets in the way. Vacations, health crises, busy family life etcetera. 2 weeks can go by in a blink. I've had packages sit unopened for 2 weeks

@ you need to understand the sellers side of these things. How Would you feel if your employer decided to hold your check for 30 days before they paid you.
@Mary-c5t7l6 сағат бұрын
@ That’s right, that’s why I think 3 days would be even better. Then the sale would be final! And us sellers would get the money owned to us without being worried about someone putting in a return. Makes sense to me!

It's these reseller channels that are causing a lot of the problems with eBay sales. It's like you live in a town and have a Chevy dealership....then you invite four other people to open a Chevy dealership in the same town. You're basically telling everybody exactly what sells for good money and all the tricks of the trade. It's basic economics. The more items out there the lower the prices, the less sales. Don't get me wrong. You have a good channel and you give good advice and I feel like you're a good human. I'm just giving my opinion on the situation. I don't sell toys, games and dolls. I have a completely different niche than you do.... The last thing I want to do is get on the internet and tell everybody else what I'm selling and what to buy and what to sell stuff for. It just doesn't make sense to me. But maybe the KZbin money makes up for the lack of sales that you're making. Who knows. This is just my opinion. Nothing personal to you
@solvox52173 сағат бұрын
Some good points. From what I have found if your a good seller and run a proper store you can pretty much sell everything. Granted there is a time curve on ebay for all categories and thru usually want a string of sales before they will give you the momentum in terms of views however once you do get rolling things move as fast as you can handle.i believe thr new algorithm is more dependable upon time invested time and outcome than people assume. If you know how to take pictures and write you can sell ice to Eskimos so to speak. Also I notice he doesn't show all his sales he gets a good deal hidden and throws out gems here and there that keep the community watching . The real key is knowing how to look up sell through rates. Once you know that and now with Google lens you don't need a KZbin channel to show secrets.

Thing is, these guys have large social media followings that helps increase their sales and how much they get for their items. For those of us who don't have social media presences... yeah it probably doesn't help us.

Why do you denigrate smaller sales. Those sales put food on the table for some sellers. Great that you want to make thousands but not everyone wants to be a cheap $1 buyer and make thousands off what you buy. A couple of ten dollar sales can help people who struggle. Do your thing but don’t make it seem like a waste of time to make a little money on an item.
