I don't know what these guys are talking about...one of the most CONSISTENTLY funny movies I've ever seen
@trikkerman17 жыл бұрын
On a lighter side. Anybody here ever seen that movie with Ethan Hawk called "Predestination?" Stay away from the trailers due to spoilers. Tip: If you can remember what Ethan Hawk says in the beginning of the movie it will help you when the twist comes at the end. Then you'll want to watch it again. If you still have questions then look up "Predestination: Explained." Then you have to wonder why this movie didn't make the theaters.

If you get the DVD, watch it with the actors’ commentary. Now, I would never watch a movie this way normally, but it’s pretty damn good, and Robert Downey even hints at it in the actual movie itself.

This was one of the most thoroughly entertaining comedies in years, there's not a dull moment in it, one of the more funnier roles of Jack Black, Downey makes the movie worth watching alone. but Tom Cruise is also hilarious...

This is a top 5 funny movie of all time IMO. From the moment the fake trailers start to the credits when Tom Cruise is dancing, it is balls to the wall funny. The right amount of racial humor mixed in with absurd scenes and pyrotechnics, this movie knows its over the top and acknowledges it, even making fun of the whole thing with it being awarded with a Oscar nomination, a real movie baised on a fake movie baised on a real life book baised on fact events, that is clever and funny.
@arenasification12 жыл бұрын
haha I thought the same.. but I was surprised that Ebert was still there when Tropic Thunder came out in the first place.

How this movie is acted is pure comedic genius. The subtle reactions, the seriousness and how the characters really believe in themselves when they are really crazy. If you wanna learn how to act comedy in a movie, this is how you act it out.

If anyone has not watched the dvd commentary, I must say its funnier than the actual film. Downey makes good on his promise that he doesnt drop character untill after he does the dvd commentery. You owe it to yourselves to watch. Fucking hilarious.

Tropic thunder was meta before meta was meta, that’s how meta it is. And also I don’t think woke culture would let a studio make a movie like that these days.

Phillips is a great foil to Roeper. Roeper has the populist Ebert vibe and Phillips the slightly more intellectual vibe of Siskel.

No mention of the atypical political uncorrectness in this film and how mentally handicapped people were openly mocked. How did they get away with that? They didn't laugh at homosexuals in this film, so I guess Hollywood, that bastion of moral guidance signed off on it? It was a funny film, but could it be made today?
