A "hall effect transistor" (what is being called by most as "the halls") is simply a transistor that operates (conducts electrical current) when it is within a magnetic field. The third leg of the transistor outputs a variable voltage between ground and circuit control voltage (normally 5 volts DC) depending on, or proportional to the strength (or "saturation") of the magnetic field. Because it's the magnets that spin on a brushless motor, as the magnets spins past each hall sensor, it will conduct or output a sine wave signal that the controller uses to determine when and how long to pulse the phase wires. The frequency of this sine wave is also how the controller calculates your bike's speed if you use an LCD panel. If you attempt this fix the two most important things are; 1. make sure the transistor is an equivalent model (use a U.S. made transistor replacement if you can, as Chinese semiconductors tend to burn out or short if you fart wrong too close to them; this is NOT a "racist" remark, most Chinese semiconductor manufacturers use inferior processes to make semiconductors causing them to fail at lower currents and voltages) and equivalent package (shape of the body of the transistor - usually a TO-92 package but SOMETIMES a TO-196, and 2. that it is oriented exactly like the original. As you can see in the video, the transistor has a flat side. Making sure of this orientation prevents connecting it backwards to the PCB.

@@smidgelife thanks for the reply. i took the hub apart and found that someone who had owned the bike before me had already replaced one of the hall censers. i done a good few test in side the hub on the circuit board and all wires etc. i ended up discovering that there was two wires broken, the yellow & blue leading down from the main big black cable that leads down through the wheel spindle/axle. the two broken wires was the one's that was working the Hall censer that had been replaced. i think who ever replaced the censer must of though it was just the censer a loan that was at fault. when in fact it was just the two broken cables. i have repaired the two cables now and the bike is working just fine. so Error 8 is telling you that there is either a bad connection to the hub, broken wires. or the censers have failed.

My friend had a problem with his Apollo ebike. The hub motor was not spinning. He went to the place he purchased it from and they changed the pedal assist and still could work. So I tried to fix it and i found out the motor controller was faulty (24V 250W). 1 of the mosfet was short circuit and there was no option to replace it as it stayed under silicon coating. The motor controller comes attached to a battery bracket. I found a new controller on eBay which had the similar waterproof connectors (Julet). Please advice me if I must change the hall sensors. Just wondering if the motor controller model KT24ZWSRD -ffF01 will match the hub motor.

My cable running to motor was rubbing next to tyre which exposed colored wires and shorted wires? Or maybe those 3 pronged components need to replace?. I blamed the bike shop that serviced my bike coz they should of zipped tied cable away from back wheel 😡. They tried connecting wires back together and never solved problem

@@kiwimon3204 I had to replace the whole electrical components of the ebike and use a conversion kit to build my own on the pre-existing ebike I have. I ordered the bike from Amazon and got very little help from the seller so I changed the rear wheel motor, the battery and the controller to suit 1500w. I’m happy with the upgrade and it’s worth more than what I originally bought it for and it goes much faster than before. I’m just disappointed with the seller’s resolve and that I had to take matters into my own hands to get it fixed with the expense of losing more money

@3DPDK4 жыл бұрын
If you have an LCD panel, the #7 error code means the controller is detecting a bad or missing hall sensor signal. Without a dedicated ebike tester, a "down-'n-dirty" method of testing is to apply 5 volts DC to the red and black wires going into the motor (this powers the circuit board in the motor, shown in the video - red is positive and black is ground). Use a volt meter and measure from the black wire (circuit ground) to each of the small gauge yellow, blue, and green wires. These are the hall sensor signals and should read 4 to 5 volts *pulsed or variable* as you slowly rotate the wheel. 1. Read nothing as the wheel spins if there is not 5 volts DC on the red wire. This can also happen with loss of circuit ground (black wire) but that's extremely rare - usually a bad wire or connector. 2. Read nothing as the wheel spins if the hall effect transistor is burnt out or "open" 3. Read any voltage that does not change (or changes very little) as the wheel spins if the hall effect transistor is internally shorted. Do Not confuse the heavier gauge phase wires going to the motor coils - there are three and they also are yellow, blue, and green. You won't damage anything by probing them, but you aren't testing anything if you do. Just remember the phase wires, if connected to a live controller, CAN carry what ever battery voltage you use. 24 volts to 76 volts can give you a pretty nasty shock and contact burn. - best to leave the phase wires alone as they also produce voltage, like a generator, at different levels as the wheel spins even it the cable is disconnected.
