There is an ANSI escape sequence to set the cursor to a new location, so we can set the cursor to the top of the screen to overwrite the old content, but without to clear the screen. The cls command let the screen flicker. I am not sure which Windows version use an ansi driver by default.

As mentioned in the video... you just copy things other people do, to the point you know how to execute these methods + teach them to others. And as mentioned in the videos as well... you don't always know what exactly is going on until you dive deep into the code and start to analyse it. I'm a game developer myself, and I often bump into the same reality where I go through my old projects and don't understand much because for 1. I probably copied it off another person ( why should we reinvent the wheel?) and 2. a lot of things in the coding world repeat, so you can't instantly assume what the program does with only observing a few lines of code. Now the answer to your question is: just go out there and retry doing these things yourself. You'll learn a lot more on the way than through a video showing you how to do it. But if you do it yourself, you'll eventually learn WHY it works.
