Honestly, would anyone actually think a female lawyer would date a bus driver? I'm a blue collar union worker and wouldn't even bother asking a female judge, doctor or lawyer out on a date. Unpopular comment I know 🤷🤷🤷

Eboni is a lawyer. She has every right to date a man who matches her ambition. Could she meet a good dude who isn't as successful as her? Sure, but it's only a matter of time before their differences affect the relationship. Scenario: Eboni has been invited to a gala with her peers. She brings him (bus driver) along as her date. As always, the question of "death" is asked, "What do you do for a living?" He's surrounded by lawyers and other highly-educated men and women. He has always been comfortable with what he does because it's an honest living. However, his ego and pride take a hit because he's not among his peers and people will judge him. That is what happens with mismatched couples. You can't just be okay together behind closed doors. You have to be compatible in all areas of your lives.

Most women have a fairy tale dream of meeting someone you match with perfectly but let me say this i have yet to meet a woman who has any of the same interest as me and if i found one she probably be a dude in a dress and if a woman found a man they were 100 percent compatible with he probably be a trans man we different simple

I honestly feel Ms. Williams did not think before she spoke. It happens. And her answer is her truth. Unfortunately, the question was a loaded one. Dr. Vanzant challenged her with this question. As simple as it was, there are many components that go into the answer. Ms. Williams spoke her truth and that's fine. However, her truth on this platform with this guest held no weight to the depth of the answer. It was very shallow to say the least. And it portrayed her as such. There are many wonderful men out here that are blue collar workers. The majority of our fathers and grandfathers were blue collar workers, and provided for and protected their families. They are the reasons many of us are able to go to college or even dreamt of degrees and "Not being without", as Ms. Williams stated so assertively in the interview with Dr. Vanzant. Those men were pillars of our community, and the core of our family structures. And regardless of the job, or title, they ALWAYS showed up. So to discredit a man that's a "bus driver" in my opinion is ignorant. That same man may be retired from another job and is sitting on a GOLD mine! But he enjoys driving a bus. And has the integrity to prove it by being in a position of service to others. Moral of the story, think before you speak. And understand WHO you are speaking to and about. This video in response to the interview really wasn't needed. As Ms. Williams already showed her hand during the Iyanla interview. Damage control just caused more damage. So there's that.

None took the time to analyze the original interview and this so called "clap-back". As you well put, "damage control". This is all lip service and word salad. She said what she said and now she's trying to spin it. We are NOT stupid, we heard exactly what she said. Even her demeanor with Iyanla spoke volume on how she feels about blue collar black men. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with what she's claiming now. NONE! Anyways, as a brother that owns a small business with blue collar black men working for me, I THANK YOU for shinning a light on her BS respond. Nothing but resect. Stay safe.

Iyanla offered a different and much needed perspective. She asked for advice as a "successful", yet single 40 year woman who has "done them all" and failed. The answer was simply to see your potential mate as your special person and PARTNER. I wonder if Iyanla would have asked this question to a white woman? We catch the absolute most flack when we have built a whole empire for ourselves outside of a man. Eboni was asked a question and she simply answered and was criticized for her wanting more like most people do who think your standards are unattainable. White women are literally dealing with the same thing. There are articles with titles like "Economically unattractive men are leading to a downturn in marriage" written by white women. So many are so quick to speak about how Black men are lacking that they miss what's going on in the world around them. Also Eboni occupies the provider role as a 40 year old millionaire. And just like the men would just find a attractive 28- 32 year old less accomplished woman to marry them, the women like Eboni might have to do the same with a younger less accomplished man. Eboni occupies the provider role. Ladies you can't have both. Either you want feminism or you want patriarchy. If you want to be a Boss B than take what comes with it, not the Disney fantasy but the real that comes with being a successful women.

@@rosejames5172 The marrige rate in South Korea is fallen through the floor and so has the birth rate. The Same goes for Japan. Much of the reason why is because as women climb up the ladder their expectations for men's income also increases. Unfortunately some women find themselves in the breadwinner position still looking for a breadwinner. If you don't know what's happening abound the world than what are you talking about? 40% of American women earn more than their male counterparts so this is not exclusive to the Black community. Y'all just don't know what's going on in the world around you. She is saying that our drive to do and be should not come from external motivators whether prompted by fear, necessity, or greed. We should tap more into the essence of womanhood from our creator. If we approach life in this manner, we will attract those things we desire because it is from a place of authenticity rather than hustle mentality. Her grandfather as a bus driver is not the same as this generation of young adults choosing to be bus drivers. Especially if they are capable of more. The elders did the best they could with what they had. That’s excellence, but too many young male adults settle for comfort and complacency. Women aren’t the only ones who can adjust their crown. Yes, we can create with a bus driver with aspirations for more. But, what about the bus driver who feels that’s “good enough”? Should she adjust her 7 figure lifestyle to meet his income? Should change to provide for the man even though she wants a man who can provide for her? Why is that more right? If a woman is going to stand in her femininity she needs a man that stands in his as well. It can be hard to see that when as a woman you are providing for your man. Again, her grandfather as a bus driver “providing” for her to go to law school is not the same as her as a lawyer/public figure/influencer providing for her man who is a bus driver. Well, when she asked you that question i knew there would be trouble whichever way you answered. The truth of the matter as an African, a lady who is a lawyer in Africa would answer the same way and it would be no issue because in Africa someone with a degree is usually but not always seeking someone with a degree too. The funny thing is some will still seek a man with less money but better educated because that is just what they valiue whereas in the US it seems making X amount of dollars is what gives worth. When you said only of he owns it, i laughed hard. It was comical even though it also made sense. I am with you, if you inspire more black boys to be bus owners rather than just bus drivers that is great. We still need bus drivers and they play a key role in any economy. I wish she had just asked you if you would date someone that earns say X amount of dollars that would have been more general that how it came across that she was suggesting at least that bus drivers were somhow less than. I saw the entire interview with Iyanla Vanzant and the interview that lady Eboni had on the breakfast club. I am glad she stood her ground during her appearance on the breakfast club. It's your attitude Sis. It's your attitude. And it's your tone. Plus, in the moment of "if he owns the bus" was your opportunity to IMMEDIATELY go into Black ownership and how moving goal posts get in the way of our possible business development and ownership. Also, that was time to insert resources to help the Black community learn more about the goal post locations. We both know ownership, especially in the transportation industry, is not a simple 123 for most folks be they White or Black. The attitude, micro-facial expressions, pursed lips, oh no she didn't just ask me that type of hesitation, is what many White and Black folks noticed. Iysnla's point spoke to your fact that women are outpacing men. Therefore, we need to acknowledge that, factor it into our dating choices, and without the look of disdain toward those we may not want, choose accordingly. It's not what you say if you want to make certain points. It's how you say it and the supporting facts you immediately bring to the conversation while saying it. Words and receipts matter. Emotional based response is actually a reaction and can cause us to miss wonderful opportunity to clearly express ourselves (both men and women) in real-time. Doing so after the fact is oftentimes too late. It was your attitude that was visibly fueled by your instantly released emotion that caused all the stir. I understand and appreciate your intent as well as I understand and appreciate Iyanla's intent. Both have place at the table for emotionally controlled discussion.

The idiocy that your bloviating is beyond repugnant. But I'll humor you with the response. Yes, she said what she said and she's a moron for it. Black American households are dead last for household income because the women chose the government over the men. Men are not getting mad at this female for being delusional. They're just calling her out on her delusion. You're talking about raising the bar, when most of these black men are being raised by women with your mindset. Again, you chose the government over the men and you are the primary educators of these men. This is your guys's creation. Don't be mad at the men, be mad at the women that are raising them. Yes, women have excelled in education. But they also excelled at being the most debt ridden group in America. You have also excelled at being the main group that gets a career that doesn't align with the degree they went after in college. Making their degree completely obsolete. Expecting something above average when your average yourself is what's damaging our community. Having unreasonably high expectations and a skewed sense of logic is what is damaging our community. Following a movement that has never supported your community, is what has been damaging our community. Average is average for a reason. It's because most people fall into the average category. Thinking you're above average, for doing average things is what has females like you believing that you deserve above average, for your mediocre averageness. You are average, I am average, and 90% of this country is average. But your delusional thought process has you believing that you are above average for mundane accomplishments. Women consider themselves models for taking selfies and posting them on Twitter. Women consider themselves entrepreneurs for starting a failed business. Women claim to be bosses while having no employees. Women claim to be queens while having no king to give them that title. Get your head from out of your crust covered cheeks and join the real world. Talk to women that have your thought process and explain to them how they are wrong and how they need to grow up and grow past this unrealistic expectation of life. This isn't a Disney movie. Most people don't have a happy ending. Marriage isn't about love. It's about respect and responsibility. Kids are not tools, they are your future legacy. Your job is not a bargaining tool to get a man that's out of your market value. You're not a man. Your job doesn't mean nothing to men. Hopefully this was enlightening to you and any other absent-minded females that believe that what this female was saying on the new segment, was actually considered "cooking"! Because I promise you that the majority of the world looks at her as the slowest creature on two feet and if you think that she's right and you want to follow this mentality, you're slower than pond water in January with molasses in it. Just saying.

Well, Eboni K Brown, I don't know if she was ever taught this in her upbringing, but it goes to that old saying👉🏾 that it's not what you say it's how you say it👈🏾 and she refuses to accept her statement as being offensive👈🏾 and just because you have a black man driving the bus does not mean he doesn't have a college education because you have so many black people that have graduated from college that cannot find jobs in what they majored in and graduated college with a degree in so she should not be looking down her nose at blue-collar workers and she should not be judging people by their occupation👉🏾 but by the content of their character👈🏾. but we got it straight from the horse's mouth, that she judges black men by their occupation so with that type of thinking she's always going to miss out on her blessings✝️🛐 and this is so sad to have this type of mindset As a black woman.

I think a lot of people are missing the 'qualifiers' that Eboni put out first. She said she didn't want an answer that was an indictment on men. She asked how should women (with wealth or means) position themselves now in a landscape where they are beginning to out earn men. Most groups of people marry within their socioeconomic status. Her question is legitimate. If you have a group of women who came from one class to the next level up, adjustments to some of their lifestyle and requirements will change. (especially if you went from near poverty to decent wealth) The way you think about money, security, provision, it changes. Stable in one tax bracket can feel different in another one. Also, men in this country (across the board, for real) are going through the shift of the economy NEEDING women to be in the workplace on top of, in some cases, women out earning them. Men are now asking what does it take to be and feel like a man. This is far more nuanced than Iyanla's answer tbh. Honestly, it came off as dismissive and reduced Eboni's question to 'don't be money obsessed and shallow'.
