Bro, Abakaliki airport will be successful when the city attracts a large number of middle class people who have stakes in the city and need to travel there regularly and even invest more. Initially, there was indeed a surge of interest in owning landed properties in the area from loads of such people particularly in the diaspora. Sadly, their interest was dampened by local land speculators who started quoting tens of millions for empty land in nearby bushes. Many people were astonished when they found that it could be cheaper to buy a house in some areas of Europe and North America not to talk of nearby cities than buy an empty land in Abakaliki! So people simply voted with their feet to look elsewhere. As Abakaliki has to compete with other cities for investible funds, it will take direct government intervention to rekindle interest in the city among the middle classes especially those in diaspora, the very people who can make an airport busy. Finito!

"Flying to go and do what in Abakaliki?" That's what someone asked. Well, it's a matter of time, things will normalize. The same question was asked when Uyo airport was opened. That's why Ibom Air was lunched so that the airport will become active. As of today, the story have changed. Todáy, even Calabar airport isn't as busy as Uyo airport. Though, Akwaibom State have oil companies but Ebonyi doesn't have any, I advice the government of Ebonyi State not to waste money on buying big airplanes, they should simply buy small jets as beginners. With time things will normalize. If only the State government will invest in other aspects of the economy that will bring people to Ebonyi State. Tourism, Mining and Mechanized Agriculture will bring people to Ebonyi State.

Launching a state own airline is madness, operating an airline is cost intensive, this is misappropriating of priorities. Dave Umahi with his closeness to the central government should liaison with state government to make this airport international not just by paper, but by practicality. People living in South East can use this airport to travel to Europe, Asia, Europe and Africa without going to Lagos or Abuja. Floating a state owned airline is madness, because it’s not sustainable.

Bro, The colour thing is surprising and I dont know how it came about in an airport of all places. But when you talk about inappropriate use of colour, Anambra state is the worst culprit. The roads are all daubed with gaudy yellow and black colours for no reason and every public place is daubed with green and white colours. Even shanty batchers in Onitsha are randomly daubed with bright yellow colour thereby compounding the shabby ambience of the uncleaned streets. They have even started defacing the once beautiful Awka Millennium City with the same yellow substance giving the place a cartoon network, kindergarten look. The colour riots (to use your term) in Anambra State is is such that many places look like pre-school for late development kids. It is terrible.
