Jeez. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. Truly, as a woman, there's no way i will love my husband and not want to support our home financially as well except i know he can and is carrying the financial responsibilities of the home without stress.

What i’ve noticed with these conversations is we generally want to marry but remain single in our minds. If you’re getting married, ‘I’ turns to ‘we’. The household should be funded by a joint account. Anything that’s for the house should come from that account. And the spouses should contribute equal PERCENTAGES of their income to the account.

Marriage is not just rent,feeding & school fees. There are lots of bills in marriage that are far beyond these 3 things ; only one person cannot pay it all expect the man is a multi billionaire when you marry him. This is a HARD TRUTH every girl needs to know before getting married.This is the reason a lot of ladies are disappointed immediately they get married becos they suddenly realise that their HANDSOME PRINCE CANNOT PAY IT ALL... If you are truly aware of the real responsibilities in marriage ,na two wrapper u go tie enter marriage!

Why should a man leave all the house chores to his wife? Who was doing the chores in his house when he was a Bachelor?

As a American male, I believe that a man and a woman in a marriage or a committed relationship should share the chores and the bills. The man should do the rent or mortgage and the wife should do the car note(s) and insurance so that they can equally feel that they are both getting the bills paid and feel that no one is holding all of the responsibility. That's important to have that balance.

Except you marry and ass or a man who cheats there is nothing wrong in with contributing. My both parents paid our fees 50 50, my both parents cooked and did house chores 50 50, there were no gender roles or anything like that. They both built their home, and sent us to school everywhere together. If a man is spending your money on a girl outside, the issue is not the money, it's the fact the man is a cheat. Again, I have an aunt in the US, who works and brings the money, and her husband is a stay home husband who takes care of their 3 children all below the ages of 5, (and one is special needs by the way) and the home. He quit his job to take care of the children as the wife's job was way better and paying more than his, and they have a good dynamic. They both respect their roles, as the woman knows she cannot work, cook, and take care of the children. The man also knows that he can't work and ensure his children get the best care. Put pride aside and do what's best for your family and children's future.

I don't understand. So a woman will earn and keep, and be living within the means of the man alone? What if he earns less and you are forced to live within his earnings bracket when you could collectively live a wealthier life? Surely that defeats the purpose and intent of marriage

l feel a man is supposed to be the main provider a woman must contribute too. But a man should be the main provider in the household.

It's an ego thing for men to want to be the bread winners. There's nothing wrong in a woman wanting to support her husband in a better or worse situation. Toke has killed me with this refund me situation. I won't necessary expect you to pay me back but don't think it's the norm

" Michelle can do it, so why should I ". Toke is right . I know a couple that the wife became breadwinner because of her husband setback. When the husband became stable, he doesn't want to do anything in the home anymore. He tells his wife, he doesn't have any money all the time because he is into business and his wife is a salary earner. Now what do u do?
@sharonemordi
@sharonemordi 6 жыл бұрын
Many men and women who are 100% bread winners are miserable and frustrated. In our today's marriage most men claim to be the breadwinner even when their wives are paying 50% or more of the bills. The word "Breadwinner" does not exist in many homes today becos everybody is hustling to bring money to the home .In many average homes today,where the men are the breadwinner, the standard of living is not fantastic. It Is actually below average when you look very closely. This is because the economy is very hard. One man or woman cannot do it all.

Toke you have the very street mentality about getting reimburse any moni you spend in the house. This kind of mentality is wrong and will get you into problems even when you get the right guy unless the person is a layback and really don't care. But I doubt if you will get such person bcos pple who think like you always get attracted to pple who think the same street sense way. And wat you get is constant problem. Have an open mind to sacrificing. If you lose, you can afford it , accept it and thank God you can afford it and move on.

If the man is not at home and there is no fuel will you keep your children in the dark until he is back? If monthly feeding is 120k & he says he can only bring 60% cos of other expenses he needs to take care of? If he is paying rent this month with 90% of his salary & there is no money to pay the children school fees in the same month? If he keeps trying to pay you back money u spent from January-- dec ,will he still have money to buy properties,build houses ,go for holidays, buy cars, beautiful clothes& shoes, from that same salary ? As a woman u will definitely spend ur money for many things in ur home! Your money will not sit pretty in your account. By the time u are tired of waiting for him to do everything within a specific time and he is unable to; nobody will need to tell u to run to your bank & spend ur pretty money so that you guys can move forward in life as a family.LOL
