Thank you so much for this demonstration. I have the original micro bass and I was "on the fence" whether to purchase the Micro Bass 3 or Stanley Clarke Acoustic Preamp. I was really frustrated because I needed to hear the difference of what each Preamp could do in order to make an informed decision. Thanks to you I'm going with the Stanley Clarke Acoustic Preamp. Bravo! (Yay!!!!!)

If you want vibe, Microbass is it. If you need clean, Stanley Clarke has you covered. They are both great. 😃

Nice demos! I love my MICROBASS 3!! It's allowed my pedalboard to be the nucleus of my sound, ...highly portable!. Pack a bass, and pedalboard and I'm good to go. I can also silent practice with it. It was either this, the mesa boogie subway DI or DI plus. While I love Mesa boogie, the aux and headphone + the pedal level efx loop sold me.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your setup. I use it mostly as a studio tool, but yes, it is perfect especially when running a like to the front of house engineer on a gig! 😃

@@ToddUrban How did you find the Drive tones sound "in the room". Are they passable, excellent, below average?

Good question. I find they have a fairly warm tone, more big muff like, rather than a Rat. And they are very customizable with the parameters. However, with that being said, I’ll tend to use it as a way to thicken up my bass sound, rather than having a “distortion effect”. It is great to get a P-bass to cut through a mix or to help round out some transients a bit without using compression.

Great review! Question: how can I activate the master knob so I can have control of the master volume on a live setting? I have 2 basses and one of them needs a little bit of extra volume than the other one for some reason. When I play with this band there is no bass amp so the bass just goes directly to the console through the microbass3. So basically I want to be able to control the master knob and also for the EQ/Comp/Drive to affect the sound before going to the console.

Well the master knob on the top left will control the master, but the blend knob will determine how you blend the channels. Additionally, you can determine whether the channels run in serial or switch between the channels. I'm not sure if that helps, but that should be able to give you the output volume boost you need, while having the EQ/Comp/Drive control. The unit takes a bit of tweaking and playing to find the sweet spot, but it sounds amazing and is super versatile.

The Stanley Clarke, yes! Absolutely. I’ve done it and it’s great. The Microbass wouldn’t be that great, as it is geared more for electric bass
