Bass player for 56 years now. I was always a 4 finger left hand. I see so many of my hero's , Squire, Lee, that primarily three finger left, that I have never been able to understand. Billy, has a beautiful 4 finger left,, but really freaks me out is his 3 finger right hand. Like the elusive element on the periodic table "Unobtanium . Thanx man.

I met Billy a few years back while my old band was doing some exhibition stuff for the NAMM show. I just shook his hand and briefly greeted him and thanked him for influencing me so greatly. The strange thing about that chance meeting with him was that the next time I picked up a bass, my sweeps, taps and speed improved exponentially. I'm not saying that Billy somehow had his ability transfer to me......but it does make you wonder. 🤔 Now, I must have this pedal.

In my eyes, a good Bassist has a way of really "layin' it down". However, with as well spoken as Mr. Sheehan is, he ALSO has a great way of layin' it down as a presenter of said product, but more importantly - - a TEACHER! Billy has a great way of connecting with US (his wanna'-be students), keeping things simple & throwing some "sciency" stuff in there to really make his point. I think I've GOT IT Billy: The basis of bass playing is by use of a Bassist's bass-line, while touching all the bases of basic bass playing (basically) ha-ha!

I bought this pedal and I love it! ...the loop feature is SUPER cool, Love experimenting with certain pedals for just clean or distortions, etc. Awesome job Billy and EBS, you kick ass. EBS was very helpful when I couldn't find any of the special loop cables for purchase, they gave me a great deal on 2 and sent from Sweden fast.

Hmmm.... My good old GenzBenz GBE (a 750 and a 1200) have two channels, a tube and a solid state channel, you are able to mix for your taste. I overdrive the tube and roll off some of the low end, but dial in more low end and roll off some high end at the solid state channel. The tones I get from this are great. Even the reasonable priced Marshall MB 450 h, a real competitor to the Hartke LH 500 when the Amp was released, has a tube and a solid state channel - and a dedicated mix channel where you can mix the two channels with a blend knob. I bought one of those in 2000, when my SWR Redhead Combo died 2 hours before a gig, and I had to get me an amp - fast. I had to take what was in the shop, what made me a bit anxious. But only until the soundcheck started and I noticed, that the amp has really great tones. I still have the amp, its in the rehearsal room and still gets played. So the EBS Billy Sheehan pedal is a pedal for bass player with a single channel amp. I checked it out and found it great, not only for bass distortion, it is the effects loop in the pedal that help a lot. I mean, original signal plus adding distorted signal do a bunch of pedals this days, like the Darkglass stuff. But the effects loop is something special that I like a lot.

This is actually quite hard to do. Anyone can make a distortion pedal, but getting it to mix properly with the clean signal is a challenge.

Awesome drive pedal!! Does it have a high pass filter, that lets in frequencies 80 Hz and above, while keeping the frequencies below 80 Hz clean? Is that frequency adjustable? Thanks, and great playing!!
@EBSSweden Жыл бұрын
Hi. There is no high-pass filter, but it splits the incoming signal in two paths, one goes through the drive section with the tone control, and the other goes clean keeping the entire range. Then you set each paths volume with the Level and Clean Level knobs. If you want to separate and send everything above 80 Hz through the Drive channel only, and everything below 80 Hz through the Clean channel only, you can do so by using an external crossover filter before the pedal, and then use the Clean Loop jack as an input for the lows, and connecting the highs into the pedals standard input. Then you will have the lows go clean through the pedal while the highs will be affected by the Drive circuit. Both signals will still be mixed together at the end and you can use the built-in compressor to melt them together, as Billy mentions in the video.

I initially thought that Billy was advocating for people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I think a bit of late onset dyslexia might be creeping in.

What amp and effects are you using? What bass are you using with what pick ups?
@WoutervanTiel5 жыл бұрын
Do you have the purple one or the orange one? The older one (purple) needs a phase correction. There is a post of this topic somewhere online. The newer one has phase correction built in.
