Been using Modi for a couple of days now. One thing, if your outside of Italy you'll need to edit /etc/default/locale and /etc/profile and set locale to your language and region. Or little things like the calculator and clock will have Italian language settings. Not a deal breaker, just a few little things that need to be tweaked to use outside the region.

I do disagree about bloat, my perspective is that if I want something, then I can install it. Spending time to uninstall stuff I don't want on the system is a waste of time. However, that's the great thing about linux, you have choice. Different tools for different needs, different desktop environments for different preferences. So I'm not going to say that it's a bad distro because of it, just that it's not my preference.

I don't believe that just because a person has a differing opinion than I , that they are Trolls. I use Zorin as my main squeeze. But I also have Makulu linux," Which I Love" , and a few others on my test laptops. I did not like , nor could I use many of the apps that came with it. Only took me a few minutes to delete the ones I could not use and download the ones I could . Problem solved. By the way I Believe it was you that turned me on to Makulu. What repo is this pulling from for app downloads in it's GUI store? The descriptions of the apps feel... suspicious. Like how they named 'OBS' as 'Obs'. Makes it seem like they roll their own packages. And after seeing the downloads having to come from a MediaFire link, I can't help but wonder what else they would put into the packages, if they are making their own.

I think modiciaos can be a good choice for someone who just switched from windows, because you have an already full functional system with some known apps. But for an already experienced linux user modicia os doesn't make a lot of sense and gives that sense of "mess", which is the opposed of what the typical linux user searches. If you like the distro, you like it. I don’t worry about bloat. I have all the apps I want, as well as a bunch of VMs, and my $70 SSD isn’t even 20% full. It’s kind if like concern over how much RAM a desktop uses. I could care less whether it uses 600 MB or 2 GB. I have never seen my system use even half of my 16 GB of RAM, even while drafting in FreeCAD and rendering a video in Kdenlive in the background.

After just few months of daily use, every single one I used especially Ubuntu based distros get corrupted by broken, missing packages in the repositories. Last time was really crazy. After a system update, I got upgraded to a completely different distro and everything was broken. Must have been something mixed up with the repositories and I got downloaded wrong system files, no idea what happened but I did not touched Linux since. Disgusting experience every single time I try it. But the polish look of Modicia OS got me interested. Maybe I'll have a look. Looks nice.
