you are my hero! I'm sure that when you started making these the massive benificial effect was not anticipated. I was a science teacher for 5 years for Highschool before going to Medical School and your tutorials have been priceless. Thankyou

I think what he may be trying to get across is that we call it a '12 lead ECG'. Yet there is not 12 physical leads but instead (in this case) there is 10 physical leads LA, RA, LL, RL + 6 chest leads. However, when we look at an ECG reading there are 12 leads as some are calculated to represent the electrical activity in the heart. I, II, III, AVL, AVR, AVF, V1,V2,V3,V4,V5,V6. I hope that helps!

Seems the chest leads 1-6 are going the wrong way (shouldn't it be right to left) but apart from that thank you! so good.

Great video, just one simple question - How does the ECG detect electrical impulses in the heart muscles from the limbs? Because the electrical impulses do not propagate into the cells of blood vessels, do they?

Just as an FYI, the chest leads v1 to 6 begin medially at v1, but end on the left side under the arm at v6 (not on the right as drawn). This is obvious because the heart is tilted to the left side (not the right side as drawn in the circle representing the thoracic cavity). Good video but!

I believe that the drawing would be wrong as you state if we assume that we are looking at if as if we were standing at the patient's head (lying down). It is correct, however, if we were looking at it as if we were looking at a supine patient from the feet up (the same way you would look at an mri/ct scan slice - from the feet up to the head)
