Rawlings privatised, sold off, and closed down hundreds of state enterprises in the 80s and 90s. The result is the massive unemployment we see in Ghana today. In all these, the people of Ghana were not consulted. We're at it again. The people are not being consulted. Privatising ECG is a very bad idea. Maybe we should rather privatise the Flagstaff House.

As an Engineer and someone who have worked for ECG before, l will suggest to the Minister to have an option to listen to the ECG staff and probably sign a formal performance contract with ECG with embedded conditions and to allow them proof that they can operate the Company with the standard losses acceptable in the electricity distribution industry. Government itself, who is a major debtor to ECG, should clear its bill for a clean start of a stated time frame performance contract to proof that they can do the job and liberate ECG from its current predicament!!.

But government doesn't have the money! The ECG staff can name ideas for performance and even sign a contract but can they actually live up to that reputation of words?
