It's getting harder to find people who worked on this when it was originally composited. Not that I'm looking for them, but most of the miniatures in the Original Trilogy were literally put together from scale model parts that were commonly available at that time. They weren't digitally rendered or anything fancy, like today's ships. They literally put all of this model background together by hand. Props to them for doing such a fantastic job long before computer rendering and editing was powerful enough to do the job. 😊👍

I would've stuck with the *pizza paddle concept,* and run with the idea that it was developed as a counter to the Star Destroyers pizza slice shaped hull. It was a evolution of the Hammerhead Corvette, optimised to push around Star Destroyers in combat to get them further in the oven.

@@xenxander What if the neck was reinforced, or even solid? I'm sure the the fight deck/bridge and weapons could go on the side, next to the neck. Edit: What if the pod/bulge on the very front of the "handle" (seen at 1:50) was a large pack of explosives that clips on? When ramming they would explode, which would almost assuredly destroy anything the empire has. A new one could then be attached back at Base. You could also use the pod to contain fuel or food and water to haul extremely long distances, if you have no designated haulers available.

In real life we build awkward and flimsy things all the time. When there's good, practical, unavoidable reasons to make such stupid-looking things necessary. I imagine the long neck accommodates extra clearance for cargo modules, landing/launching access, common docking interfaces, etc. It's Star Wars so weird and "low-tech" always looks better. The "Brute" is the only one of these EC Henry ships which was purpose refit as a combat vessel.

I think it comes down to 'context': if you insert Star Wars Rebels into the original series, you get the 'ragtag' vibe as Rebels is set as a prequel the story as laid out by A New Hope. As the original trilogy progresses, and with successive episode, the Rebel Alliance gathers steam, and an increasing level of uniformity (reflecting the growth of the Rebellion's popularity / strength). For reasons we're all now well aware of, KK / Disney shoved all that carefully crafted cannon ( _including_ SWR) in to a dusty corner, and only trotted it out when it suited them. I salute Henry's efforts to flesh out the *whole* Star Wars universe with designs that predate & augment the original tribology.

I really love the YT-950's assymetry in it's design you made. Modular elements from smaller models, Fits like a glove with the millennium falcon, that in itself is a lopsided spaceship. Pizza pan, meet Burger with olive

Wait, when did you do the "Corellian Tug ship?" I don't think you have that video up. Great job, Henry! Love the new ship. I think this ship as a mobile, small-scale fighter production and maintenance yard is a great idea. I can totally see Rebel fighters being fabricated on something like this. And of course, the other jobs are very nice as well. So it sounds like your contact for the other models you were able to use as reference didn't have this one. The original film model is still lost in the ether, huh?

I'm imagining, since the Brute is missing its normal command bay, its had all controls rerouted to the YSB-Utility Transports bridge, which likely is also permanently mounted inside of the ship!

So this is definitely different from i was picturing. A long, axi-symmetrical ship, with some gun pods on the prow and the bridge somewhere in that dome, in the middle. Like a repurposed yacht. There would be an access tunnel to the gun pods, where ammo and torpedoes would also be stored, where it’s extended to better dissipate heat (a common theme in SW, thinking of the B-wing primarily). However, it could be fully automated with droids so that the vulnerable portion stuck out wouldn’t endanger lives, unlike the Nebulon-B. Breaking that middle shaft wouldn’t render the ship inoperable, just without much of its firepower. Maybe not a corvette by definition, but about the size, with surprising armament. But I like your creative approach. I’m getting serious XB-70 Valkyrie vibes from the 6 large engines at the back. Looks super cool, and the detail is incredible, like always!

I'm still amazed that star wars hasn't hired you, or even just bought these designs off of you to use in one of their projects. With shows like the mandalorian taking place in the outer rim I absolutely could see one of these ships appearing in it, possibly even as the personal ship of a specific character or organisation. Imagine a group of pirates operating one of these with the aftermarket turbolaser you modelled!

In the upper right background of the scene where the A-Wing is crashing into the Super Star Destroyer bridge ( "Intensify forward deflector screens!!") you CLEARLY SEE an asymmetrical shape that matches your YX-950. i had to come back and comment - hahaha- Good job for fleshing it out.

Good job on that design. That looks and feels more like OG starwars then anything made outside of the original trilogy. Very 70s to early 80s scifi starship design. I wish major studios would hire you to design ships for their scifi series, because they have lasting appeal unlike modern day designs which are overly generic and unimaginative.

So, 4K80, the fan restoration of Empire's theatrical cut using existing film prints, reveals that this ship, unlike in the 4K Disney+ release, is actually a brownish color (same goes for the Correlian Tug as well), instead of a washed out grey color.

This checks so many Boxes They are aesthetically on Point (In- and Exterior)and would seamlessly go into the Original Trilogy. Even the tiny bits and Ideas in Terms of Background and Lore for this Ships you put in fits way better then the Disney Stuff.

When I look at the ship there instead of seeing a pizza paddle I see it was a large two pronged fork design with the bulge as a sort of ball nestled slightly behind the junction, leaving a slight space between the ball and the sort of wide face that stretches out into the long nose.
