I think it comes down to 'context': if you insert Star Wars Rebels into the original series, you get the 'ragtag' vibe as Rebels is set as a prequel the story as laid out by A New Hope. As the original trilogy progresses, and with successive episode, the Rebel Alliance gathers steam, and an increasing level of uniformity (reflecting the growth of the Rebellion's popularity / strength). For reasons we're all now well aware of, KK / Disney shoved all that carefully crafted cannon ( _including_ SWR) in to a dusty corner, and only trotted it out when it suited them. I salute Henry's efforts to flesh out the *whole* Star Wars universe with designs that predate & augment the original tribology.

So this is definitely different from i was picturing. A long, axi-symmetrical ship, with some gun pods on the prow and the bridge somewhere in that dome, in the middle. Like a repurposed yacht. There would be an access tunnel to the gun pods, where ammo and torpedoes would also be stored, where it’s extended to better dissipate heat (a common theme in SW, thinking of the B-wing primarily). However, it could be fully automated with droids so that the vulnerable portion stuck out wouldn’t endanger lives, unlike the Nebulon-B. Breaking that middle shaft wouldn’t render the ship inoperable, just without much of its firepower. Maybe not a corvette by definition, but about the size, with surprising armament. But I like your creative approach. I’m getting serious XB-70 Valkyrie vibes from the 6 large engines at the back. Looks super cool, and the detail is incredible, like always!

I originally thought it was a G9 rigger without the bottom wing (also nice new droids. They seem like the predecessors to BB units)

Damn... another smashing hit of your re-imagenation on these obscure ships!!! Keep up the AWESOME work

Astounding ! This wonderful work shows a true knowledge and respect for the SW universe and a real artistic talent. You belong to the SW art department.

i watched this vid a few months ago, and just watched ROTJ. In the upper right background of the scene where the A-Wing is crashing into the Super Star Destroyer bridge ( "Intensify forward deflector screens!!") you CLEARLY SEE an asymmetrical shape that matches your YX-950. i had to come back and comment - hahaha- Good job for fleshing it out.

0:40 I just realized, that ship at the bottom left corner looks a lot like the side profile of an Imperial Escort Carrier
@That_Guy_Nee3 жыл бұрын
I'd noticed the same thing watching back through this. It's very much a slightly rounder, more flat version of the Escort Carrier

Good job on that design. That looks and feels more like OG starwars then anything made outside of the original trilogy. Very 70s to early 80s scifi starship design. I wish major studios would hire you to design ships for their scifi series, because they have lasting appeal unlike modern day designs which are overly generic and unimaginative.

This by far, is your finest work. I have followed you since you've started this channel... And this is the best. From one artist to another, please keep it up :) You and your team kick so much ass!

So, 4K80, the fan restoration of Empire's theatrical cut using existing film prints, reveals that this ship, unlike in the 4K Disney+ release, is actually a brownish color (same goes for the Correlian Tug as well), instead of a washed out grey color.

I am curious as to how you would make a sequel A-wing look, that would be a tall task.

So I stumbled over your Channel ...and Buddy i'am Speechless. what you have done with all the Rebel Background Ships beats everything Star Wars related Disney has put out since acquiring the Rights to it. This checks so many Boxes They are aesthetically on Point (In- and Exterior)and would seamlessly go into the Original Trilogy. Even the tiny bits and Ideas in Terms of Background and Lore for this Ships you put in fits way better then the Disney Stuff.

I am very impressed. Kudos to your team. You definitely captured the "Star Wars Look". I am a design engineer and also create 3D ships as a hobby (mainly Star Trek) so I understand the time involved in the endeavor. Excellent work!

Found you through AT-AT Chat. I love your puzzle / mystery solving approach to this design. So cool how you all use this as a launch pad for the realized designs and fantastic lore / backstory / hypothetical specs. Top that off with the fantastic design and modeling, and this was an EASY subscribe. Looking forward to digging through your back catalog of videos. Thank you for your awesome work!!!

I hate to say all the design ideas look wrong, at least to me. It's most like the 3rd one but in as narrow lengthy-width ratio as the 2nd one, but the rear is also more rounded None the less, I love these videos to which literally nobody else makes the same ones ❤️

I don't think you ever talked about the coreillian tug ship.

When I look at the ship there instead of seeing a pizza paddle I see it was a large two pronged fork design with the bulge as a sort of ball nestled slightly behind the junction, leaving a slight space between the ball and the sort of wide face that stretches out into the long nose.
