I've always thought this about Star wars ships but I think the fighters are just trash like I get it. They're small and agile which makes them difficult to hit and gives them a good dog fighting capability. But I think I'm a ship like the millennium Falcon or the ghost is actually better as a fighter. These small cargo ships have plenty of agility to the point where it's basically handling like a fighter, but also they have cargo carrying capacity and they're equipped with crew quarters which means they can be used for a small crew long-term operation, but they're also usually more heavily shielded and heavily armed which gives them a much better versatility

Honestly, I think Star wars ships are a bit stupid with the folding out elements. Like a lot of the time. It's just unnecessary and purely aesthetic function. I don't really see any practical elephants most of the time. Even in storage. You could just make a smaller ship and it would work way better than having a ship that folds itself up

It's exactly the same mistake that was made with Han Solo. Luke's arc was destroyed in order to be repeated in a retro movie instead of truly developing his character with new challenges. It's lazy writing no matter how it is out of character or not. I don't think TLJ is bad movie though.

Okay, so here's the thing. While, yes, statistically with percentages, the red shirt death percentage is a lot lower. But still, numerically, 18 of them died. A far higher number than 5 blue or 4 gold. So your argument is invalid. Statistically speaking, more red shirts die than the other two colors.

Enter the expanse. Sounds like all the need is torpedoes. Faster, more maneuverable and cheaper than a fighter. And a large ship could dump out hundreds or thousands at a time to overwhelm ths enemy's ability to shoot them down. They also showed thst activating a hyper drive in the path of enemy ships obliterate them. Just make an unmanned torpedo with a hyper drive. Point it at the enemy fleet and activate. You don't even need a payload. It is stupid to equip a fighter with the same awful ineffective weapons and just let them get closer and poke at enemy ships compared to easy to deploy unmanned alternatives thst would be considerably more effective. He'll if turbo lasers don't work well, and shields are permeable to solid matter, how about you just use rail guns instead of lasers? It's kind of silly to think that the people in this universe see how ineffective their weaponry is and are just like meh, it's all good. Throw more bodies into the fray! Instead of taking 10 second to think of a better alternative

The biggest weakness of the deathstar is not the exaust port. its resource management. Imagine how much food and energy it take to maintain a station for that long. The best way to deal with it is to raid supplies convey and to starve it out. The problem is that requires a very large navy, which the rebels did not have at the time.

It IS a bird! I never thought that until I saw a flock of pelicans diving into water to catch fish. In profile the head looked like the saucer..the neck was the dorsal connector...the secondary hull was the body of the bird...and the pylons and nacelles were the wings. This is more obvious in the film version but the shape suggestions are there from the beginning. I don't think Matt Jefferies consciously thought of this, but the shape-scheme is pleasant to the eye, and I think that probably resonated with Jefferies.

Also, the forward sweep of the engine pylons allow for a closer connection of the engines to main engineering, impulse engine's & matter/anti-matter mix chambers below. The Refit connects them all together. Mostly, the change was made to make it look more streamlined, sleek & Ferrari like... it just looks cooler!
