The Marsilea at the start looks more like Crenata than Hirsuta hahahha but anws, didn't expect the Echinodrus to grow that fast hahha altho i've nvr been a fav of the sword plants

Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. This was the first time I've grown Marsilea, it was from tissue culture and the label was handwritten with "HIRUTA" 😂-- I would'nt doubt that you are correct. I'll take a deeper look at Crenata vs Hirsuta TY 🙏 --- I've never been a sword fan myself, this is in-fact the only sword I have grown, ever. Over time this plant has grown on me (lol). That being said, I'm not looking to grow different sword species for a long while - too much commitment. Thanks for watching!

It turned out to be a nice surprise! I was under the impression it was a slow grower. However it quickly took out my mini-tanks. Now I'm wondering how long that 16 gallon cube can handle just the one sword. Thanks for watching!

This plant has been fascinating to grow! I’ve grown 7 of them with each being very different. This sword expresses different growth patterns based off of its environment. With low light the plant will grow smaller rounder leaves that reach toward the surface - very very slowly. Under very bright lights the leaves broaden and get very hard and crinkled while the plant grows wide and flat at a much quicker rate. This plant truly can survive in a wide range of conditions. Either very low light (think anubias/buce) or extremely bright situations. You will need to give it a lot of space, rich soil, root tabs, intense lighting, co2 and strong flow for the quickest growth. The plant currently is over 17 inches wide, and is preparing to flower - in just 7 months! I’ll make sure to release a video of the entire process. Sorry for the long reply & thanks for watching! 💚🌱

@@maniniscapes1936 I just got an iguazu from a friend and I'm getting it on Thursday. I'm so excited! I got a great deal on it and I can't wait to get my favorite sword! I don't know why but something just draws me to this even though I don't really like other swords lol.

@@jeremyleung3824 I understand how you feel! In fact, Iguazu was my first sword species, something about it was unique and drew me to it. I was never really interested in other swords. Its a bit goofy, but of all the plants I have grown/growing, this one has the most "presence" and almost feels sentient. It's almost as if it's aware. Crazy, I know! Good luck and have fun - I'm super excited for you. 💚🌱

Manini Scapes I bet! it must be a very heavy root feeder yet require good circulation. Those leaves look well designed for growing algae 🥺😱 I’m going to try some after I move 👍 thanks again for the gr8 video!

Red Fish Blue Fish While searching for the sweet spot with this plant. I proportionately increased light, co2, ferts (root tabs!) and flow as it matured. Otherwise, as you stated the leaves are prone to spot algae, cyanobacteria and staghorn algae. Once you dial everything in (+snails) the plant's voracious appetite leaves nothing for algae. 💚🌱

Thanks for watching! Believe it or not the plant is even bigger now, and is flowering too! Id say each leaf is up to 6”/15cm in size, the width of the plant is nearly 18”/45cm. With the flower stalk the plant is almost 3’/1m tall. Check out ig.manini-scapes.com to see recent photos.

Im glad you found it! :-) Those light settings are my general settings - from there I tweak according to plant types & tank parameters (co2, flow, ferts) Currently I am experimenting with a very high light setting for a new "dutch" style tank. Im estimating around 300 par at the substrate and nearly 1000 par at surface. Thanks for subscribing! 💚🌱

do you think this plant suit my cube tank (16x16x16" 16gal) as a midground side plant? or is it too big?
@maniniscapes19362 жыл бұрын
It’ll become too big eventually. Thankfully its a slow plant, especially with low nutrients and no co2 injection. Id opt to plant it “dead center” in your 16” cube. Good luck!

@@maniniscapes1936 thanks! i decided to bought iguazu , after few days it lose all its leaves should i worried? does the iguazu will bounce back? the substrate are soil and gravel as a cap should i add some osmocote? i have land plant osmocote 17-11-10 is it suitable for planted tank especially for iguazu?
@maniniscapes19362 жыл бұрын
@@michaelsanjunly6780 That's not good! Iguazu rarely loses leaves. I would cut off all the dead leaves, make sure there is at least 2 healthy leaves left. If the plant is still very small (4-7 leaves) the plant will be fine if you can correct & stabilize its environment. Iguazu is very resilient, I think you can fix this. As far as fertilizer, I use osmocote very often, it will do well with Iguazu. Dirt works, aqua soil as well. Generally, the plant really loves rich nutrients at the root. If you want to help it recover quickly, you can increase co2 & light to stimulate faster growth. 1 new leaf per 5-7 days can be achieved this way. GOOD LUCK!!!! 💚🌱

@@michaelsanjunly6780 don’t give up! If any plant can survive its iguazu. Just clean up the dead leaves and make sure the rhizome is healthy. Id keep it until you are 100% sure it wont survive. Good luck

I spotted this plant in a Video about Asian Arowanas and then he showed his plant tank- 3 of those swords took up most of the forefront and middle of an aquarium I estimate to be about 150 gallons. This guy had top of the line everything..the Red Arowana was in an aquarium of many hundreds if not thousands of gallons. It was all someplace in southeast Asia. I did ask about the sword and he never answered. Plus,I can't find that again. Since the Swords were just an afterthought in the video. Each leaf was about hand sized...guesstimate!

Please share about tour parameter and spec your tank and your lighting tq ....
@maniniscapes19364 жыл бұрын
When I started with this plant I wasn’t sure how much light it would grow best under. At first I ran medium light (about 20 watts over a small tank). Over time as it grew I realized this plant grew faster and bigger under very bright lights. Eventually I increased the lights up to 130 watts over a 25 gallon tank. They key is it balance light, co2 and water flow. Or you will have issues with algae covering the leaves. Thanks for watching!
