Good video! My biggest problem was trying to get the wrist pin out. I ended up using an appropriate sized tap placing it in to the end of the pin and, with a lot of 'jiggling' around, it came out. I also used a light coating of wheel bearing grease in order to keep the thrust washers in place while inserting the new wrist pin back into the new piston. Putting it back together took some time due to my fat and arthritic non-Japanese fingers.

I found an echo pb500h in the trash. Piston badly scored, don't know condition of cylinder? Thanks to your excellent video I will posasibly replace the damaged parts. Good job and all the best Mr. Mark, with appreciation from New Rochelle N.Y.

any advice on screws that wont budge? some bolts are too tight

On my BP-651 I used all t handle allen to replace my cylinder. I found that regular allen wrenches were to short to remove the muffler bolts and hit the plastic shroud of the blower fan🤷‍♂️

If you have a buddy to help you you can hold a screwdriver and start turning the screw counterclockwise and your buddy be tapping the top of your screw very gently with a hammer till it releases that's what I do and it usually works

Just did one with stuck rings managed to get 3 bolts out the 4th one not so good ended up welding a smaller Allen wrench into it and was able to put vice grips on it and got it out

Does these engines takes engine oil?

No they use 2 cycle oil mix in the gas no oil in the engine as the oil mixed with the gas lubes everything. You can buy a small bottle of 2 cycle oil at walmart for 96 cents 50:1 or even 40:1 you mix one bottle in 1 gallon of gas

Carbon is damage to cly and piston Seems really common now from crap gas and cheap oil Look before you make a decision to fix

You can buy a kit for like 30 bucks on Amazon it doesn't matter if it's oem or off brand they both with last just as long

OK I took my troybilt apart and replaced my piston and NOW can’t get cylinder back on it. Lubed piston with 2 cycle oil like you did and squeezed the rings with my fingers but still too tight. Very frustrating

Same here and then the rings cracked. Brand new. So frustrated.

you can try to use a hose clamp to compress the rings. it may help get the cylinder head started and then remove the hose clamp to get the cylinder back in the bore.
