What is the max cut length on the 27" bar? Were you using a new Echo chain or other? I ask about the chain because it sounds like the saw could handle a bit more bite. Thanks for the vid... i was leaning toward a Stihl or Husky but now I need to reconsider given the great value here.

@backseatdriver95763 жыл бұрын
If you want your chains to last and avoid constant tightening, make sure you don't overheat the chain. If you let the chain determine the speed that you cut at instead of pushing it to cut faster, it shouldn't overheat and wear the chain out faster. I prefer echos in my tree service business because they start easier and seem to run smoother for me throughout a long day. Stihl are also fantastic machines; I just prefer using the Echo line.

Initial thoughts on this saw?
@obxkoastie81706 жыл бұрын
Markthomasbuilder One of the very few things I dislike about Echo is their non-industry standard bars. They take different mounts than almost all of the large saw manufacturers like Stihl, Husqvarna, and Dolmar/Makita. Then they might be the only saw manufacturer in the world with a saw that takes a 27" bar. Most bars go up in two or four inch increments. It is the reason I sold my CS-500P; no one was making a narrow kerf bar with a 216 mount. If your 620P was anything like my 500P you will be amazed at the extra performance there is in that saw by removing the limiter caps and fine tuning the carb with a tach. Wait until she is really broken in...at least fifteen full tanks of mix then get a good tach and set the saw for the maximum RPM shown. (Recognize you will void the warranty if you do it yourself but take it to an Echo dealer and show them it isn't turning out the max RPMs. The 500P had a fairly open muffler so modding it gained very little. But fine tuning the carb for my area made a world of difference. Echos are great saws and are putting a hurting on Stihl and Husqvarna with the computer adjusted carbs. Stihl and Husqvarna both have lost so many sales to Echo and Dolmar/Makita they are now re-offering their computer carb saws with adjustable carbs. Even though the computer carbs added $150 to the sales price, the new non-computer saws don't show any price difference.
@MarkThomasBuilder6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice! Do you know the max RPM's I could get from the 620P if I trick it out? The history behind the computer carbs is interesting. Thanks for sharing!
@obxkoastie81706 жыл бұрын
The owner's manual says 12,600 - 13,200 RPM. My guess would be that they are set out of the factory for the lower number or just slightly over. On my 500P it was set 500 RPM below max. There was no way with the limiter caps in place I could get it to 13,700. So I took them off, got some new ones that I took the little tabs off, put them back in place so I had an easily adjustable carburetor. At 13,700 the saw took on a whole new life. I imagine your 620P will respond similarly. But run at least fifteen tanks of gas through it before doing any adjustment. Your spark plug will often tell you if you are running rich or lean. Stay away from too lean/over 13,200. Echo sets that number for a reason. Unless you are a professional saw builder/tuner like Jack Beeler (Hotsaws 101) I would not exceed Echo's recommendation for WOT. Jack uses a tach but often exceeds WOT limits. One other suggestion if you want to really see that saw cut some wood, go with a 20" bar and one of the new Oregon EXL full chisel chains. (Loggerchain.com) I find them comparable to the Stihl RS full chisel chains. You are losing at least half a horsepower with that 27" bar.

The 620 is outcutting my ported ms361. By a long shot! Definitely the best 60cc saw I own. The 361 has been worked over extensively. The cs-620p is just muffler modded, base gasket delete, and tuned correctly. A whole different animal. The ms361 is a pound lighter and a bit more slim. It's also a screamer, whereas the 620 is a torque monster. Love them both, but the echo is a better saw if we're being honest here. 👍 That said, I won't be selling my stihls either. I enjoy them all
