Just got my late father's 2 cycle Stihl string trimmer going again after sitting in his shed for the last 4 years. I like this speed feed head much better than what's on it which is a Universal Products head that you slide 2 short pieces of trimmer line into each side, it does a good job but this looks like much less hassle so I'll be ordering one soon. Thanks for the video 👍

I could not get the unit to install using the black spacer. So I installed it without. But, although the line would feed properly, the unit squealed! I am going to try to force the green insert to stick out farther. All I can think of.

BINGO!! That did the trick. No more squealing and feeds nicely. 👍 your video is SO much better than the obscure instructions that come with the unit!

@@Paisteboy You bet!! First one of your videos I’ve seen. I just subscribed. BTW, I really like Stihl products. In addition to this unit I’ve got a chainsaw and leaf blower from Stihl. Soon to get a pressure washer. But, the concept of this speed feed head was too good to pass up.

Now that I’ve used this Echo head several times I have a question. My favorite string is an Echo string, Black Diamond. It is 0.95 and is a twisted string. It feeds great in my stock Stihl trimmer head. But, in this new Echo Speed Feed Head, I can’t get it to reliably bump feed. One afternoon I had to stop six times to disassemble the Speed Feed head and remove all the line and then reinsert it. The edge this head has in feeding live into it has completely been overshadowed by its inability to feed the line through it!! What am I missing? At this point I have removed the Echo head and gone back to my Stihl head. I hope there’s a fix for this. Otherwise, this was money wasted.
@Paisteboy3 жыл бұрын
I think that some lines outfeed better than others with this head. I had no issues with the string that came with the head but similar results like yours with a different type.
@NoBite23 жыл бұрын
@@Paisteboy Thank you! I like this particular line because it cuts through so much more than typical line. And it is an Echo product, so I expected it to work with their Speed Head. But, the proof is in the using.

@Paisteboy4 жыл бұрын
@@wayne1362 If you are pushing 50 percent of the line all the way through the center of the head before winding I have no idea how all of the line is winding in one side. Are you sure it's assembled correctly? Are you saying if you do the same thing with .080 line it winds up correctly?
@wayne13624 жыл бұрын
I took off head tonight to check the 80 was even on both sides of spool I read comments on another video somebody said the same problem with jamming he said one side broke a and it went to other side seems to happen when I turn it upside down to edge sidewalk I may just have to use the 80 it happened when I 1st got it last yr it come pre wound with their orange 95 line
@Paisteboy4 жыл бұрын
@@wayne1362 OK. So if the line breaks internally then it will only feed out from one side after that until you reload it with new line.
