Your method to clear the flooded engine worked flawlessly thanks 1 million. I was getting a little frustrated as I just purchased this and it took me two hours to just trim the edge of my grass which would’ve taken me 10 minutes if I refuse my electric trimmer to begin with. But you live and you learn thanks again

Very clear and easy to follow - thank you for taking the time to make this.

After retiring my wonderful Husqvarna, I picked this one up. Flooded the carb. Thought 8x was excessive but I was obedient to the instructions. Thanks!

I too followed the instructions thinking this isn't right. I called Echo and their tech support rep didn't agree with those instructions either. I am still scratching my head at how those instructions can get sent out with the trimmer. Although, I just pulled my toilet to troubleshoot a possible clogged trap. I bought a set of nice brass bolts from Ace Hardware. After setting the toilet on the wax ring, I couldn't get the nuts on the bolts. I figured out that the threads on the bolts don't fit the nut that came with the bolts! Agh! Total PITA. While I am ranting. I just installed a new over the range microwave. The holes on the template for the bracket were wrong. Luckily I caught it before I drilled holes in the wall. BTW I love the trimmer. I am running Trufuel in it. The mechanic at the mower shop recommended it. He said it will save money on maintenance. I don't think he was trying to sell more product because he told me to look for it at Walmart at the end of the season. They mark it down. I got 2 years out of one of the big cans.

It worked, thank you! I could say more, but many have communicated my sentiments. New trimmer - 3rd time using. Would not start this morning in warm TX weather - at all. No sputter. Fuel is good, if not, I blame Echo. It's their brand 50:1. I grew frustrated after trying on my own for 20 minutes. Decided to mow my lawn anyway before work. 8 hours later, I stumbled across your video with a quick internet search, and it made the world of difference. Full disclosure, I selected it due to it being the shortest tutorial. You weren’t exaggerating with 10-15 pulls. I exceeded that twice over, likely due to user error. I cleared the flood, edged my front and will return to weed eat. In closing, THANK YOU!

Hi. I reviewed the Echo Quick Start manual that came with the trimmer and the more extensive manual on line finding nothing useful at all to help me understand why the trimmer wasn't starting. I knew I had the correct gas octane and the right oil and ratio of gas to oil. After exhausting many websites to no avail, I came across your KZbin instructional. I followed your starting instructions & how to clear carburator KZbin video. After following your instructions, my frustration melted away and I was thrilled. LOVE THIS TYPE OF VIDEOS!!!!! THANK YOU 😊 Now, does anyone know how to clear/clean the overflow fuel on the carburetor or exhaust?...
@2aminitials2 жыл бұрын
1:43 It did start on the third pull but died due to the choke being on. That is normal. Once the engine fires stop trying to start it with the choke on. Move the choke lever to half choke or off. If you don't you'll flood the engine. Also you can push the purge bulb as many times as you want to. It is not a primer bulb in the sense that it adds fuel the the engine. The purge bulbs purpose is to bring fresh fuel from the fuel tank to fill up up the metering chamber of the carburetor. The second fuel line connected to the carburetor is the return line where excess fuel in the metering chamber of the carburetor goes to be returned to the tank.
@Know-How-Now2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thank you for the thoughtful and helpful comment. I think you may not have watched the entire video. In the beginning of the video, I am flooding the engine on purpose by following the quick start guide that comes with the trimmer. Then showing how to start it if is is flooded... which is likely to happen if you follow the instructions. The guide does not tell you to move the choke lever to half or off as you noted should be done when the engine sputters/fires (correct thing to do). Later in the video I show how to start the engine without flooding it. I don't know why Echo would include only a quick start guide with incorrect starting instructions. I wondered why there was a return line for the fuel... thanks for the education.
@2aminitials2 жыл бұрын
@@Know-How-Now I agree with you on the quick start guide being incorrect, and you do explain the starting procedure very well in the later half of the video. ECHO needs to hire you to make their instruction sheets instead of the people they have doing it now.
@Know-How-Now2 жыл бұрын
It's a head scratcher on how an incorrect quick start guide could be the only instruction that comes with the trimmer. I reluctantly followed those instructions and flooded it. My previous string trimmer was an old Cub Cadet. It had the craziest starting proceedure, so to me having instructions that go against common sense didn't stop me from following them. I did call Echo's tech support and read those instructions to them. The guy I talked to was quick to say pushing that bulb 8 times was too much. I downloaded the user's manual and the starting instructions are correct. Hopefully the video will help anyone using those quick start instructions.

At minute 1:39 as you are pulling the starter you can hear the weed eater fire. At that point the choke needs to be opened back up to the run position and then the engine would have started on the next pull or two. The reason it didn’t start is that although it had started to fire, you kept the choke closed.
@Know-How-Now Жыл бұрын
You are correct, Noah. The start directions that come with the trimmer do not tell you to do that. I am demonstrating what happens when the quick start guide instructions are followed... and likely what someone would do who doesn't have the same level of knowledge as you do. Had a new srm 225 that I fueled with the can stuff (94 octane no ethanol) and let it sit outside under a patio cover for about a month. Finally got around to starting it, a couple of pops, then nothing. Tried some carb. cleaner, more pops then dies. So, fuel starved is the problem. Borrowed a small glass jar and drained the fuel tank into it. There was about 3/8" of gas and 3" of water in the jar. Imagine my surprise. Dumped that garbage out, fill it with new fuel and it took off on the second pull. I have no idea where all of that water came from. I don't think it rained the whole time it was outside.

New echo weed eater and won't start. I also used trufuel 50. They told me it was good stuff.

I've been using Trufuel in mine since I bought it. A small engine mechanic told me to use this fuel. I've had no problems with the trimmer and am at the end of the 2nd mowing season. I don't know if they are still including the start directions with the trimmer that flood it. If you are sure that you have not flooded it, here are the directions to start it properly. You can book mark video so you can find it when you want to start the trimmer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jp6woZmthtdkhpYsi=juYLU038Qpx33-xi If it is not flooded and these start instructions don't work, then take it back to the mower shop. I have no complaints about the trimmer other than the poor starting instructions. I also have a video that shows how to load new string... very easy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJuUaqiOe7l4adUsi=uWzsqg-ywIN6RKzA

The initial tip worked to get it started but now it wont stay idled, any thoughts on how to fix it?

It looks like there are several YT videos on that topic that would be more helpful than me writing a few paragraphs. Do a search for "echo string trimmer won't stay running" that will be way better than us going back & forth.
