This episode made reference to some past episodes: The Prismriver sisters (episode 8) and Rumia apear (episode 11), i hope in some episode there's would be like a battle between the Shrines (Hakkurei and Moriya) against the Temple, and Kyoto have to choice what religion is better, or both religions would end up in a battle, in the end (this is not where the story end, or the battle wouldn't have been start) Kyoto sacrificed herself to stop the fight, after this, the battle stopped, everyone was surprised, Kyoto did sacrificed herself to stop the war, she didn't like violence, so she sacrificed herself to stop the war, everyone was sad, the way Kyoto sacrificed herself was heartbreaking, Soo Sanae and Reimu didn't want to fight, Soo the battle ended up in a thigh, the temple was Soo sad, they lose Kyoto and without her, they weren't the same again... Meanwhile in limbo, Kyoto was being judged by Shikieki, she says that Kyoto got good actions, and she says that she would have some options: either she goes to heaven, or she would reincarnated into some other person, Kyoto say to Shiki that she got a better option (the option would be related with episode 18) there was a person that she meet, and she's was great, as well also there's was that other girl with the hat, she also like it, Soo she wants to see them, but she didn't want to be without her family (the temple), soo she want to she and her family would be close with the place she found on her dreams. (In other words: she just want Humans and Youkai would convive together as friends and not foes). Shikieki like the idea, but she give one condition: after this, you would lose your echo ability (or more like, her ability would be reduced, soo that wouldn't be devastating to humans ears) Kyoto didn't care, she's just want to be with her family, Shikieki accepted and then Kyoto was going to make her dream come true... In the future, Renko and Merry were on a stroll, when suddenly they hear some noise, in the meantime, Kyoto was searching for her family, when she found it, they were happy to have her back, but they were confused about what place where there now, Kyoto explained them what happened. After an explanation, she her some voices, it's was like the ones she hear from the dream, after searching for the people that made that voice, she found something, also Renko and Merry found out who was the person that was making noise, they found Kyoto, and Kyoto found Merry and Renko, Merry was Soo happy to see Kyoto once again, and that wasn't a dream, soo she was happy, Renko was confused, Merry explained Renko what happened, after a talk, they were happy to have Kyoto again, and Kyoto was happy to have her family and friends again, and they go to do stuff in the big city. And the episode ends. (I think this would have been better for a season finale of the series, soo i hope you do like it, and told the creator (if it's still making those comics) to make it, as a season finale of the series!)

Sorry that this is a late reply, been offline for school. While it would be interesting to see the series to have a concrete plot line, I don't think this series would turn anything else than lighthearted, slice of life story. I like your story still, and unfortunately I don't speak Japanese so I can't tell this to the creators for you.

How curious,good investigation,yes..... is a possible episode really but... there some characters who don't appear,seiga and yoshika from toyosatomimi no miko peoples and hata no kokoro who..... well..... i don't know what group she chose if hijiri or miko but let give time to the creator of these comics.
