Ok so out of curiosity I decided to research what a token gift can mean in traditional Japanese culture and its a symbol and a proof of both acceptance and bound, and it's actually a far more significant event than either Reimu and Marisa are aware due to the difference between in perception between Yokai and Human, basically in Rumia's mind what Marisa and Reimu did was accepting her into their "household" as a member, as that's how Rumia saw the Shrine as a house hold, and this is most likely the reason she happily hunts the premises 😂

+Supperdude9 yea if you compare it with Manga's like Blue sinners, Wild and Horned Hermit or Forbidden scrolery etc ( for which he wrote the stories ) ..you can notice , a certain similarity and consistence in characters depiction...for example Reimu's behavior, How Marisa is often more level headed and the traditional motifs in this case a short story depicting an new years shrine visit custom...this chapter alongside the "Extra of the wind" are the precursors of all Zun's manga's.

+Supperdude9 the thing I noticed is that the idea is Youkais purposely depict themselves as "scary" because that makes them look more powerful, plus weak Youkais tend to be bullied .....also one of the human eating Youkai is an Sparrow Youkai , and seriously I can't imagine her actually eating humans ...however I could understand why she would want to depict herself as one ...also up to this point we never had a depiction of a human being killed and eaten by any of these supposedly man eating Youkais in fact the Forbidden Scrollery depicts Kosuzu almost being eaten by an Youkai energy from one of her Scrolls not by an Youkai ( Yukari even intervened manipulating the events so Reimu deals with the threat before Kosuzu was fully consumed )

All Gensokyo youkai are prohibited to assault human village and its residents, but they are free to attack outsiders (such as in Gappy fics). Yukari gapped in humans from outside world as food supply for Gensokyo youkai.
