I do not feel that the school would exist if Lee had not agreed to come and help save it. Lee set the standards of civility, morality, trust, etc which are still required of every student who attends Washington and Lee. After his passing, it was all the good that he had done for the university and for the reuniting of the nation that many wanted to honor and for which we are grateful for today.

Before the school decides about changing their name they might consider a Basuto Proverb: "If a man does away with his traditional way of living and throws away his good customs, he had better first make certain that he has something of value to replace them." Really . . . consider what you want to replace the tradition shown in this film. If you don't gave something better, then leave the school name unchanged.
