Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher and author, born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of 29 a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. He devoted the next several years to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation. With his international bestsellers, The Power of Now and A New Earth-translated into over 52 languages-he has introduced millions to the joy and freedom of living life in the present moment. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”, and Watkins Review has named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world.”
Eckhart’s profound, yet simple teachings have helped countless people around the globe experience a state of vibrantly alive inner peace in their daily lives. His teachings focus on awakening consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking, and can be seen as the next step in human evolution. In the awakened state of presence, we discover what Eckhart describes as our essential identity-who we are beneath the surface-and its power for transforming our selves and our world.

Roxana, To feel better reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath and mind [brain] are closely related causing stress-anxiety. For a better life sit on a chair, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Change happens from within by itself. Day or night, when taking a walk, sitting in a park, when reading, at office, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Reduce negative social media. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes. Senior Counsellor.

This video I have watched over and over and it saved me from my own destructive thoughts that I felt I would never escape from in the last 2 weeks. They caused awful panic and I was tetchy, frustrated and deeply sad. When I started to be 'aware' of the thoughts rather than fighting them and then distracted myself with the present moment I began to heal. What truly has worked for me from Eckhart's teachings when it comes to dealing with fear and anxiety, is knowing that the thoughts and feelings such as heart palpitations are not me but are the pain body wanting to take over. I then bring my awareness to the feelings of fear or anxiety and assert "That is not me" while holding my focused awareness on my heart or whatever part of the body is suffering. Within seconds, the feelings dissolve and fear/anxiety is gone. Love you Eckhart!

prophetofdoom soooo much has changed in Christianity since it began, but that’s a different argument. what I mean is that everything Eckhart teaches is completely consistent with what he was saying in his books 20 years ago. A lot of what other spiritual teachers say changes over time as they learn more, but eckhart has had things figured for a long time.

It's haunted me all of my life and really held me back from living my life. Deep bouts of depression and anxiety on the side. It really has affected my relationships too. Even though it's cultivated a huge heart, deep empathy, understanding, love and care-it still has prevented me from going outside of the house, having steady work, etc. Such a dichotomy. My best friend of 14 years broke it off with me just months ago. So I'm going through such a rough time in my life. I'm moving soon too, new job, trying to face it all head on, and its making me quite nervous to be honest. It's back in the same city I was living in with her, as well. It took me several years of consistent daily meditation to be able to relate to what he’s saying. The fear never really goes away, just your relationship to it changes. I’ll at times say to myself, this is fear, or rumination, or this is me being irritated. Once you become aware and present with your thoughts and use your emotions as a gauge, they can’t really hurt you and you see it for what they are, just thoughts. I still have a narcissistic father in my life, thoughts of my childhood emerge, and present day issues happen, and sure I get caught sometimes but the awareness takes their power away..and you’re just left with now.

"INTENSE AWARENESS is the RESULT of TRANSMUTATION of YOUR FEAR and ANXIETY and then ACCEPTANCE follows."--Eckhart Tolle
@voiseaumusic
@voiseaumusic 3 жыл бұрын
I reread Eckhart's book 'A New Earth' again recently after a profound spiritual awakening and there was something he said that literally transformed the way I see life, and practically obliterated all fear and concern I had about where life was taking me. In one profound sentence he said "life is the dancer, you are the dance". 8 years ago when I first bought the book, I would never have known what that meant. Most people think it's the other way around. Now I realise in that simple statement, there is nothing left to fear. Whenever anxiety arises again, I just think of those words and feel deeply that truth in my body. Awareness and allowing are absolutely the keys to shining the light on the soul and the deeper sense that there is a spiritual consciousness underneath it all that is guiding us to higher dimensions of self-realisation. We don't have to mentally understand it, just surrender and trust that it is so. For a further amazing read if you're scared about what the future holds, read Michael Singer's book 'The Surrender Experiment' and his first work, 'The Untethered Soul'. Changed my life. Much love and respect to all of you on the journey. xx

Yes, fear and anxiety are primal reactions that wreak havoc on the body over time. Through greater self-awareness and staying present one can learn to catch negative thoughts before they become energized into negative emotions. Thank you Eckhart for speaking on this, it is a very relevant and timely subject. 🙏🏻💫🧘🏻‍♀️🌟

I followed Eckharts directions and accepted the fear and unease, gave the enrgy in my body my full attention. These feelings of fear and unease were transformed into deep peace and contentment. I am understanding that the now is the vertical dimension that is the way to deep lasting peace. Time, the horizontal dimension is much more superficial.

Anxiety, fear and all feelings that we tend to run from, have resistance to, if invited IN, and made to feel welcomed,, it's then that a feeling of spaciousness arises and even relief to a greater degree. Like in childbirth, if we tense up, resist, the pain is much greater. Treating all feelings as 'welcomed guests' is so tender and softening within us .... Speaking from experience. Also, seeing anxiety and fear as 'reminders' to come back to the moment... as Eckhart says here, in the Present Moment it's almost always 'okay' ~

I recently had a night terror. I read Tolle's book New Earth years ago and have made strides in my spiritual progress since then. I felt like I was beyond terrors like that and my mind was running wild with REASONS why it was happening and eventually my thoughts started to even laugh at me because I couldn't stop it. This lesson was such a blessing because I now know how to handle it. It was a humbling experience more than anything. As it turns out being present isn't an instant problem solver. You have to STAY present and eventually the problem will go. But even as Tolle said in this video, is the terror really even a problem? Or an opportunity to grow? Brilliant lesson. Much love and respect to you.

3:26- Once you observe Fearful thoughts, you start to dissociate then you can break the vicious circle of fear/anxiety If you immediately replace fear with positive thoughts, it will not be effective Replace it with awareness/gaps Fearful thoughts may still arise, you recognize them and even their futility Dony try to run away from what you are feeling or to get rid of it, just accept the emotion as it is. Accept 'what is' as it is. Say "I don't mind being anxious", sounds weird but try it. Try this with any type of unhappiness Same energy that was fear after acceptance gets transmuted to power/higher intelligence

The wisdom and genius of your presentation hit me at minute 11:30! What I have learned from your presentation today is the power of accepting my anxiety as it is right now. Right now. Not to embrace it, but to accept it. I tried this and I felt incredibly calm. I felt peace for a moment. I can do this work every minute that I feel my anxiety wash over me. I completely agree that trying to replace anxious moments with 'pleasant' affirmations is useless. I learned that embracing yet not reacting to anxiety is a powerful, loving embrace of my entire self. Thank you Mr. Tolle. You've given me a powerful resource.

I am so grateful for this message from Eckhard. I am suffering from anxiety disorder and have this background anxiety in my chest almost every day since my childhood. When i started reading A New Earth it helped me already a lot to understand the connection between thoughts and the emotion "fear". Since 5 years a have a sleeping disorder and the anxiety grew bigger because i was fearful of not getting enough sleep. The anxiety pain in my chest was almost unbearable. It is still there but now i have tools to deal with it. Eckhard helped me so much improving my life and I know..if I am not in peace its because I not practise being in the present momnent enough. Being aware and holding still minimilizes the pain of the anxiety...but its something that needs to be practised...once i feel better for some days i tend to give too much attention to the surface reality again until fear comes back. The feeling of peace that arises when I am free from thoughts for a while and just be in this moment is so beautiful. No activity in the outer world can give me that. Again Thank you for this Video. I am sure many people with anxiety can relate to what Eckhard says. Much love from Germany

I'm finding that by not labelling and classifying emotions as either good vs bad, or Joy vs fear then all emotions are just emotions wanting to pass through, they are a part of the body/mind experience . Emotions like Joy we let those types of emotions stay as long as we can because we enjoy them. However, with negatives emotions we either tend to run away, hide, or suppress them because we don't enjoy these, thus through resistance they grow and become problematic.

Anxiety is an emotion but in our mind we perceive it as a negative emotion as it makes us feel uncomfortable.... so if we accept it as just another emotion without labelling it as good or bad , then we can allow our anxiety to remain inside us and accept it as a part of our personality...then anxiety starts losing its power...remember the more we try to get rid of anxiety the more it stays inside us....and the more we accept it, the more we actually get rid of it....so stop trying and start accepting ur anxiety as a part of who u are

@@jj80919 Totally. That was Spirit giving the message. Most of us 'channel' for the people around us, often without even knowing it. I came to realize I was doing it if I had a thought I wanted to share with someone, but wasn't able to do it immediately in the conversation. I would notice that I still remembered what I wanted to say, even if many minutes had passed; and when I finally got to say whatever it was, I remembered it (and spoke it) with no particular urgency. I thought, "Why am I able to hold onto this thought for so long, without any emotion compelling me to hold onto it?" My own puzzlement about that was the dawning of the realization that the thought was not coming from me; it was coming from The Universe. Oh, and I love Eckhart Tolle. (Just wanted to say that.) 😊

THis must be exactly what the Buddha did when he sat so long, even going into painfull feelings of his previoous lives!!!!!! This has really inspired me to face my anxiety!!! Its been there so long. "I don't mind feeling anxious." I sort of get what he means... This is a little different, but I learned something similar with loneliness a while back. I used to feel lonely, and I would immediately get upset. The two feelings (the upset and the loneliness) were so close to simultaneous that I thought it was all one big feeling: Loneliness. I finally realized that I felt so upset about being lonely because there was shame attached to feeling lonely. Feeling lonely meant I was alone; and the reason for being alone had to be that I was a horrible person who nobody wanted, and I felt ashamed of that -- of everyone "seeing" how worthless I was. When I finally saw the shame, I thought something like, Well, that's ridiculous, because I am human, and humans sometimes feel lonely. And I had slowly become more aware that being alone was a choice I'd been making all along; it wasn't being done to me. So why was I ashamed? So I gave up the shame. (It was the thought ABOUT the feeling that hurt; not the feeling itself.) And ever since, loneliness has not been a problem. I feel it and acknowledge it when it comes, but there is soooo much less pain with it now. I think in Conversations with God, Walsch and God are talking about something similar, and God says something like, "You can have less suffering with your suffering; you can have less pain with your pain." I think that, at least with loneliness, I now know what that means. The full transmutation thing hasn't happened, but I have a sense of what that could be like now.

I get what you mean, loneliness can be reframed as having freedom just like anxiety feels the same physically to excitement, so if you’re anxious about something you can reframe it and say no I’m actually excited about xyz :)

I'm 60 now but I went through so much anxiety, depression and PTSD in my younger years. I was bullied in school mercilessly. My family was always fighting. My mother was a leader in the Charismatic Renewal and an extreme narcissist. My father was bi-polar and always yelling. My sisters would backstab me in a heartbeat. My 1st husband was an alcoholic and beat me. My 2nd wasn't much better. I lost my homes repeatedly because I couldn't hold a job. I've move 59 times in my life. Not exaggerating at all! Some of it was my parents moving us around. I ended up a crack addict in Vancouver. Despite all this I was seeking and awake. As a teenager I was trying to get my family into counseling but of course they never wanted to. My now was almost always threatening and I was aware but knew nothing of what Eckhart teaches. In early 2004 I saw Eckhart's video with the guy on the park bench. I had sat on that very bench many times. Xmas eve 2004 was the last time I smoked crack and I decided to leave everyone behind to get clean. I actually hated being high. So I sold everything I had and got on a Greyhound bus in March of 05 and moved to Calgary by myself. I've been clean since but the road to enlightenment was brutal. I've been alone since 06. I've done so much work on myself my Doctor actually called me a miracle. I've learned to stay present for most of the time. I don't allow the made up anxiety in at all BUT when I actually feel threatened by something very real especially the roof over my head which just happened 06/02/23 I lapse into deep sobbing almost constant crying. I was blaming myself for not doing it right until I saw this. Everything did work out great BUT I live in Alberta and my roof was dependent upon the UCP getting in. I had very little control over the situation. If the NDP had won my landlord would have raised my rent by $200.00 and there was only 1 listing in the paper for a place that was even more expensive. There was no where to go. As it turned out my rent is only going up $25.00 and that's only because I'm such a good tenant. I am extremely grateful but how does one stay calm in the face of something like that?! Now I'm crying again. Things will calm down shortly. I'm pretty good at returning to calmness but it's very fresh. It's only a couple days after this happened. The world is in such insane turmoil and I can't just ignore it. I do what I can to help on a very small level and I can't not watch what is going on politically. I have to keep vigilant. Its my way of feeling safe. ❤I'm thankful for my strength, the ability to see truth in myself and the world around me, my ability to stay present most of the time and that I get to be in my home another year which will make 7. A record for me. I'm hoping someday to live in true peace where no one will ever be able to scare the shit out of me again. Thank you Eckhart for making it all possible. Here we are almost 20 years later and you're still helping me. ❤❤❤
