Hello Eckhart, my husband loved reading your books & listening to you, his brain often worked overtime, it rarely stopped. This year he died, within eight weeks of the horrendous cancers ♋️ that spread. We were together almost 44 years. And so through my broken heart 💔 & despair I started reading your books & watching your videos & I thank you for making me think & just being here for me though we have never met x 💜 x

So after 46 years on this planet I'm just starting to realise how to find peace in any situation. Thank you Eckhart.
@HolyGolyMoly3 жыл бұрын
You find peace by living a life worthy of peace. By living a life of integrity and truth and love. These 3 thjngs are difficult and require much effort and time and hard work..the peace Eckhart offers is the slumber of the ignorant and the blind. it is temporary and empty, and requires nothing except complete absence of meaning and purpose.
@mikekinsella5723 жыл бұрын
Your view is simplistic and full of assumption in my honest opinion. In my own experience I have lived a life with these 3 things but I still did not have true peace in many of my life situations. This is because up to recently I have been unaware that I am not my mind. I now know that the mind is not to be trusted and can drag me into worry (my psychological future) and regret (my psychological past) if am unaware of its activity. My enhanced state of awareness is the key factor here that has enabled me to find peace. This is my personal truth and I hope you eventually experience this for yourself.
@HolyGolyMoly3 жыл бұрын
@@mikekinsella572 okay, fair enough. So tell me, if you separate yourself from your minds voice, and you find peace, isn't that just the peace of the mindless? Of the speechless? Of the useless and ultimately, of the dead? What use is is peace, if it comes at the cost of giving up the primary instrument with which we live our lives? And doesn't the fear, and worry just come back, when the minds voice returns?
@mikekinsella5723 жыл бұрын
@@HolyGolyMoly This is a very interesting question and from my perspective when I am not allowing my mind to take me where it wants I allow myself to experience life through my conscious being. Rather than being in a useless or dead state I think that I am perceiving life in its truest form when I'm in a state of no mind. I also notice that the more time I spend meditating and practicing awareness of my mind state I am more in control of my emotions and reactions during testing times. Fears and worries do return to some degree but I now notice more and more when I am caught in those states. Then I am able to bring my self back into the now by reminding myself that worry is just a consequence of my imagination running wild.

I worried, I'm 63 and 2 yrs from retirement, what will I do blah blah blah.......to stop from panicking I grabbed a blank book nearby and immediately began writing all that I'm grateful for.....my good health, my adult kids, friends new and old, my animals, a roof over my head, some money in the bank.........and so much more. We are simply part of the massive web of life, and we shouldn't give in to the easy path to self deceit, which is simply picking some guru "wisdom" to believe in that is nothing more than an assertion or theory masquerading as a "higher truth" from someone with charisma or a gift for oration, with no data to back it up, to believe or not for our own purposes. Mr Phillips I agree. Instructing people in inquiry and self-awareness is usually only as effective as the time spent with that person, and the order in which these ideas are introduced. Getting past a typical ego, within an extremely “identified” can be almost surgical, and I think often about the people who have entertained these ideas at various times in their lives, but say it is “crazy” or maybe just confusing. For me, it took multiple teachers and several months of listening until one day “I” disappeared. After three days, the ego resurfaced, but that’s ok because I remember that time and how I felt, and I can often get back to that. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

Sure? Does this apply to people, children in Syria etc? Or are we talking only about us spoiled Europeans? In case of the latter, this might apply to some extent. But in 90% of people's destinies nowadays in my opinion it does not.
@carpenterfamily61984 жыл бұрын
VitaminC Dokaz Thank you for asking this question. It truly humbled and saddened me. I suspect the truth is still there but who is ( or would be ) super human enough to ‘ realize ‘ it in the face of such horrendous suffering ? I doubt that I would be able to. I live a western life in the US and while meditation ( philosophy and practice ) have truly changed my life for the better - much much better - my little ‘ first world problems ‘ are so petty in comparison to the suffering in Syria, that I feel like a fool. Even Jesus Christ, whom I believe was both God and Gods’ Son - who knew the truth of everything - felt emotional pain when he suffered. Perhaps Eckhart will reply to your comment. I suspect if Eckhart replied he would say that it is the suffering that brakes the persons’ false view of the world - so that any human physical or emotional control has been so overwhelmed and that it has clearly failed completely. Then in that state the suffer maybe free to realize ‘ the truth(s) ‘ that Eckhart and others have discovered.
@vitamincdokaz99504 жыл бұрын
@@carpenterfamily6198 Thanks for these warm words, carpenter family... You know, I would REALLY like Eckhart to reply to this and similar questions. But not superficially like he sometimes does when asked such things... I think that just like us in "better circumstances" the primary thing these people need is not finances, but also understanding and empathy. I completely understand what you all mean when you highlight his sentences. He also changed my life to some degree. But then, after watching scenes with starving children in ruins in Syria with makeshift masks on their little faces, suddenly everything I had "achieved" by working on myself came tumbling down like a house of cards. And I thought: "The power of now"... Not for them... Not think about the future (in which maybe they see the only light) isn't the answer for all of us. And I would really, really be the happiest person in this world if I saw that somebody like ET started having empathy for those people too... Generalizing all human sufferings while laughing at them is not a solution... Stay safe, Carpenter Family, and thanks for sharing.
