A few years ago, as soon as I came back from work, I would turn on my computer and watch a couple of 'latest' videos by Eckhart. The habit was 'compulsive'. An egoic desire to learn and to understand. But, looking back, it seems like it was for a higher purpose. These days, I go even weeks together without watching Eckhart's videos and yet not miss anything. But whenever I get a chance, it gives me immense joy to watch him speak and to be in Presence with him. I find this 'want' to be light, non-compulsive and non-egoic. 🙏🙏

I have seen so much lately about....manifest this or manifest that...and people selling it as part of spiritual practice. So people begin investigating because they want to acquire something material. To me it seems to be the wrong motive for developing spirituality? Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe Eckhart would agree. I've been practicing with Eckhart for 10 years now and I've found that as long as I stay the course, what I truly need will come automatically. It's never what I think it is!! Thank you Mr. Tolle. I used to ‘think’ I ‘needed’ stuff. I was always skint in my 20s (though I had food/shelter) I always felt envious of people with families,wealth, boyfriends who took them out etc. I craved expensive makeup, clothing, holidays, alcohol-everything. It’s only now I realise I was NEVER lacking in ANYTHING. I already had the riches I craved, Eckart highlights this in ‘The Power of now’. Dear people, if you have not, PLEASE 🙏read for yourself, it’s free on KZbin, but, you have to keep going back and rereading, when my ego takes over (it does often!) reading or listening to him really helps! ✨The ego actually fuels itself off of the fear-based concern for survival. When one is fully illuminated beyond the physical form, one experiences the Infinite Self where the illusion of death vs. survival is no longer present. This is a deepening where the ego dissipates into a void, that is then filled with the Primordial Light of the Divine. This is a joyful presence to behold.

13:10 Desire is egoic phenomenon, out of lack. Creation wants to give out of the fullness within you. Something wants to come out, to be created. Those trapped in the ego does not know what they really look for is fuller versions of themselves, consciousness itself. 🐌🐌🐌🌿🌿🌹🌹 17:30 Egoic manifestation is hampered in its abilities. It also manifests dysfunctions and conflicts. Eventually you realise it does not provide satisfaction. Then you awaken. 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝 Two ways to manifest: Out of neediness (get). Out of fullness of presence (give). Presence flows through the mind to energise your thought structure, no longer dysfunctional. Thanks Eckhart. 12 January 2024.🌷🌷🌷🦋🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🌻

The true nature of desire is to co create with the flow of the Universe with good intentions and also to be free of the suffering of the ego which keeps us from a life of happiness. Yet I am consciously aware that our Ego's must be acknowledged as having a significant role to play in our human evolution both individually and collectively. Couldn't agree more Stephen, awareness and acceptance of, is the key to freedom from anything, including our egotistical minds. No one who is addicted to and controlled by their relationship with any substance can possibly break their addiction without firstly being aware of and accepting their addiction. The first step is becoming aware of the ego and the second step accepting our relationship with our own ego is not as healthy as it could be and is not serving our own or other people's peace and happiness 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Amazing explanation and pretty much exactly as I intuitively saw it as well. I realized this intuitively through meditation and he speaks of basically the same thing - the two types of desire and the difference between them: the desire from Presence, or Life, which is a desire to create and give from fullnesss. Then the desire from ego, which is the desire out of neediness, of wanting to get something to fulfill you (which it ultimately cannot), a desire to basically take.

The ego's blind desires can never be satiated because it thinks materialism is the goal. Fulfilment doesn't come from consumption but from an ego-less desire to serve and create for others such as goods, services and art. It's very counterintuitive for the ego, that giving, creating and expressing ultimately fulfils our own desires.

Yes, we can manifest, however at some point the original thought must be balanced by “Karma”.

for me to use the term "egoic self" suggest an "inflated" sense of self worth, and a departure from the idea of "equality" in human relations of mankind. i have heard Deepak Chopra use of the term "the provisional self" which references the sense of self brought about by societal needs for definition and classification of ones self. it is an identity which is only relative to an "institutional structure". he also makes reference to "the absolute self", which is the Self as defined by ones awareness of being in a dialogue with Nature , and allowing ones awareness to serve the "developing experience". in this sense, one can see the creative force of life evidenced in "the living", and "using the earth as a foot stool", it is compassion that allows one to embrace the unknown, and in doing so be with all that is "becoming" in the creative flow of the cosmos. compassion is our posturing for stability in ourselves, our relationship to experience Nature, and our fellow man. from this perspective, we are an integral aspect of creation. if we act for the sake of the "provisional self" then our creative energies are near sighted. we can be engaged without understanding the "absolute self". so no matter how well intentioned our desire to participate and/or contribute "for the good of Mankind", it can only be viewed as (ultimately) "egoic" or "provisional". history says a lot about the human experience and it Aesthetics (the creative energies expressed thru the development of various cultures). in this context Man attempts to live life as another Artistic expression of Nature. so, as much as the human effort/energies go, we may feel compelled to "create", but, if that experience does not tell you something leading to a greater awareness and experience of being "of the whole", then ones goals or aim in life will not lead to Awakening, only delusion. i say this only to offer another perspective that might aid understanding the conversation in this video.

You missed only one thing. The desire that comes for a high performance car is not always to be ‘seen’ in it from an ego perspective. I grew up as a small child before ego having been coerced to help renovate sports cars but a good byproduct was to know the pleasure of how they sound and perform; a Ferrari V12 symphony for example and the selflessness required to race that machine becoming as one with it or to crash and die and the resultant bliss that arises in the racing driver through concentration at that level where all ego thoughts must be left behind. Otherwise spot on. This is something that many who have not felt that ‘objects for scholars’ subject first hand. You are excellent by the way. Merely pointing it out. Something I also had to point out to my Tibetan Lama regarding martial arts. In this case his jaw dropped as he understood his own handed down teaching in this light.

When after 20 years of "desire" I finally got my dream car (Mustang), I was thrilled but felt an imposter syndrome driving it, like I didn't deserve it or something and that I was being materialistic. I loved driving it but the ego was definitely somewhat fed by fellow drivers and pedestrians admiring the car. It's sometimes hard to balance it all but at least there is consciousness. In the end, like you say, the enjoyment of speed and sound, in the present moment, is presence too... 😊
@I_am_Deliverer10 ай бұрын
Yes the thing about worldly ‘things’ is they always come with drawbacks. After my father kicked me out of the house at 15 with my mum and moved in his new girlfriend it took me years to build my life up. After the monastery of liars and the SAS God gave me a degree of success and I bought a classic Porsche 911 proving my father couldn’t destroy my dreams. I loved that car, it’s sublime performance and sports exhaust flat 6 sound. But with all good things in the world it came with trouble; jealousy from other drivers who would drive up my tail every day trying to race me, so my wife made me sell it. A terrible loss I can’t forget due to my youth. But that’s the problem with attachment. Nothing’s ever as perfect as it seems, and if it is there’s always something there to ruin it. That’s life and knowing this leads positively into renunciation and then into looking beyond all phenomena for lasting non-dependant happiness. And when you’re there sometimes grasping at the world kicks in again and we have to fight it off and return to that peaceful state that can’t ever be rocked. It’s inevitable and it’s beautiful but sometimes it’s a jolt to the outward grasping ego. Where to stand? To just be or not to just be, that is the challenge. Lovely comment, love those Mustangs. At least they command respect rather than abuse. I think we can enjoy all things but without attachment to them as if they were a source of happiness. In fact they are just empty of inherent existence. Just a manifestation of God as are all things.

As always, very interesting articulation of the abstract conceptions we need to distinguish truth from falsehood in our development of consciousness and objectivity (or so that is how I would suppose synonymy here). Thank you! In other words, consciousness (in the universe, I doubt it's anything beyond rationality, i.e., the universe is not rational) is synonymous with objectivity (for all rational beings, or in both time and cyclic reintegration, all animals with a nervous system, not allegorical with plants, and only so not allegorical because plants lack autonomous mobility as animals). Sorry, I am a run-on-sentence champion. Let me restate this. In my opinion, consciousness is synonymous with rational objectivity.

❤❤ AI about desires and God The relationship between desires and the search for fulfillment or God is complex and varies among individuals. While some desires may indeed be driven by a quest for deeper meaning or connection, not all desires can be universally attributed to a hidden desire for God. Human desires are diverse and influenced by various factors such as biological, psychological, and social elements. Even in the realization of divine Consciousness, the persistence of certain desires, like the desire for pleasure, could be rooted in conditioned patterns or habits. The mind may continue to express these desires despite the absence of a genuine need, as it attempts to draw attention away from the deeper realization of fullness. It's essential to recognize that the interpretation of desires and their motivations can be subjective and context-dependent. While some desires may reflect a search for higher states of consciousness or fulfillment, others may simply be remnants of ingrained behaviors or conditioning.

It just goes to show that a lot of new age spirituality is just ego in disguise.

There is so much confusion in the domain of "spirituality" that it is mind boggling. This is all so difficult because one has to go beyond the mind and all the manifestations of the mind. And unfortunately mind is all we have and do not understand anything behind it. And the only thing that drives us is the desire - a mind thing . Even the desire for spiritual realization is just a desire - a manifestation of the mind. So we stay in the same loop and the matrix. We cannot just drop the mind. Very rarely one is able to go beyond the mind.

I don’t think we are capable of truly knowing the difference between our desires coming from ego and what is coming from presence. As long as we are in a body, we are always our ego. In this way, it is impossible to discern which of our desires is "noble" and which frivolous.

Not sure about what you say (?)

I don’t think it’s about being noble. I interpreted it as coming to peace with myself and as a whole being engage in creating or giving instead of wanting or desire, as in trying to find a missing piece. Words always make it black and white. Guess some deep knowledge can only be experienced.
