If it isn't working for you, try signing in and going to your inventory. I'm not a Twitch user, I just signed up this this event. Go to customer support if nothing else works. I got the cape, so it is legit.

Well cherry cape wasn’t released for Java, only Bedrock.. that’s why you didn’t get it. If you linked your bedrock and Java accounts correctly you’ll get the twitch cape on both accounts, bedrock cape should appear pretty quickly. For Java the cape wont appear until July
