Orange can be tough to live with long term, but its slightly softer cousin - pumpkin - worked in my dining room for years. I loved it. The color was bright without being jarring and it just made me smile.

Orange in these settings is all a bit rustic and boho! It does enliven the space, but lacks sophistication. Especially in northern cold climes. It’s like Indian gold, looks absolutely fabulous there but gaudy on a cold, miserable grey day in Paris!
