Eclipse From My House As It Happened! Miami USA

The Eclipse was fun - but a lot harder than I thought!! I kept fighting with "clouds" and cloud cover. The sun kept hiding away down here in Miami :)
I did get a few nice openings of clear sky on and off, it happened pretty fast though.
This is a video of me recording or taking pictures of the eclipse as it happened.
During the day, I also got some text message from people who seemed a little scared of the eclipse and that God was going to "do something". I addressed that a little bit at the end of this video.

I went to Arkansas to experience the eclipse. My R7 was out in the sun for 3 hours and no heat warnings or issues. I just took pictures with it. It was a great sky to take sun pictures. I met people from PA and other states. It was amazing. Pictures don't give a total eclipse justice. I hope everyone enjoyed the eclipse.

Was in Montreal probably best place to capture it, was a cool event, was cool after the eclipse has like a hazey circle around the clouds. Was a perfect Halo here, and went dark for over a minute, birds were going crazy, like wth just happened.

Yeah, you had a heavy cloud cover!! Too bad the people in that area couldn't see it. We had cloud cover too but got a few small "windows" where we could see. I couldn't use glasses, not even sunglasses, because I could not see to operate the camera. I just didn't look at the sun and only looked up to gauge when the clouds were going to open up. You could kind of tell when the opening in the clouds would be coming so I tried to be ready because it was pretty short space of time. The hardest part was to FIND where the sun was lol, it doesn't stay still ha ha. I zoomed back on the lens to give a bigger area to try to find where the sun was.

Hi Woody - Nope, no glasses - they are only for viewing and I wasn't viewing but shooting pictures and a little video. Gotta remember not to look at the sun directly, but I didn't have any problem with that. I had to pay attention to the camera and IT did the looking for me. Pretty nice to see it that way than straining your neck looking up, I felt sorry for the people all trying to look way up high in the sky :)

You needed to teach people to use a geared head. This is really a lesson of the type "how not to do it." 600mm e.q. is on the lower end of usable. I put in a 800mm + 1.4 extended on my Canon, and the 1120mm was kind of ok. Without a geared head following of the sun would not be easy.
