Holdsworth may not have known whom grabbed the torch he passed off in his final moment... But, everyone here has finally discovered. He's one to watch for sure. Only the beginning.

This is the progressive stuff I've been looking for. No oversaturated tones, no whammy bar slaps, no excessive tapping with harmonics. Pure musicianship, and clean tones.

Josh is one of the greats of a new generation of Jazz Masters. He has obviously been deeply influenced by Pat Metheny. He could not have chosen a better influence (although there are many others I hear), but Josh is not merely an immitator but somone who has taken the music in a direction that is uniquely his own. Kudos to Josh's father who introduced him to the greats which played no small role in Josh's development to become the master he is today.

Lovely composition ! Besides all the awesomeness of Josh, i really love his "beginning of 20th century french composer " flavor that sticks out sometimes. A certain musicality that makes him stand out in my heart among those killer young guitarists. I love Jonathan Kreisberg for the same reason as well, but Josh is really already out of the solar system. And such humbleness and kindness ... really moving guy.

An absolutely great mix of speed and technicality with clear melodic ideas. People mention Holdsworth often, but the player I needed to mention when I heard this song was Pat Martino. If anyone reading this comment has not listened to "Joyous Lake", you are in for a wonderful fusion treat. Can't wait for the rest of this album!
