Eco-activism in Georgia: Tbilisi Clean Ups, picnic and wonderful polyphonic singing!

In this video I'll tell you about eco events, organized by Tbilisi Clean Ups in Georgia! We will visit beautiful natural sights and clean them from trash. What item will be the most interesting? Then we will reward ourselves with a picnic and a masterclass of Georgian music, celebrating the beauty of both the environment and the culture!

Thank you Natasha that was a feel good vlog, interesting, I maybe a 69yr old Brit but, I am a big time recycler I even take the paper lables off the outside of tin cans, and the sticky lables off plastic containers b4 I put them in my recycling bi which is collected by my town council trucks every fortnight, And the Singing I would love to hear more, Maybe you could use some as a backing sound track, Thank you again for that which you do, for all of us that want peace and understanding between all the Worlds Peoples

No... not everywhere. This place very tourist attraction area. People come from all over the world since the small church you see in this video has been build in 6th century. During the Soviet era, we did not have trash because we did not have tourists from foreign countries.

That’s completely thoughtless to litter a place like that I don’t have any place in America where you would see it other than in the poor impoverished areas were people hate their community. You will never see people throw trash like that on the lawn of a church or synagogue in a rural community But I see it very commonly on the streets of Baltimore in front of the churches there

@kitrichardson2165 How I feel about a pristine or a trashed place depends very much upon what I perceive the culture of that place to be. A trashed place may signify that the people there can *afford* to throw away stuff which is usually a better off place than a pristine place where every scrap is used up so there's *nothing* left for trash. In some places, being really clean simply means a coercive government has forced the people to clean up assiduously so that it can be mistaken as a nice place. I prefer the places where people can *afford* to trash profusely and yet *choose* not to, for the sake of the others' enjoyment of nature areas. (It's unnerving to find artificial things when one goes to nature areas expecting to get away from an artificial environment).

Thank you for helping Natasha! That artificial grass would look great in your living room! 😂 2 hours before this was posted, I had finished a 2 mile, 3Km, walk along the river. There was no trash to pick up which I could access. Usually I can fill up 2/3rds of a plastic grocery bag with trash & recyclables. The spot where the empty beer cans left by teenagers would be as a kid is now always littered with empty energy drinks. Why are kids sneaking around with energy drinks? 🤔

They've had clean-up traditions like this in various regions of my country for two or three decades now. I'm glad people are also doing it in Georgia, improving the appearance of public spaces, lowering physical pollution, and spending quality time together doing something nice for society. Hopefully other people learn from it and there'll be increasingly less littering in Georgia, or in my own country, and a number of other countries.

@@ZemplinTemplar Same thing here in the San Francisco area, where we've had events like this since the 1980s. For example, there's an annual Bayshore Cleanup Day, when citizens of the 30 or so cities that line San Francisco Bay come down to the shoreline and pick up the trash. In addition to garbage that's been dumped there by people walking through the area or thrown from passing cars, there's also a fair amount of junk that washes up from the bay. A lot of it is thrown off the cargo ships that go in and out of the various ports around the bay, and some of it is swept in from the Pacific through the Golden Gate. Once it's in the water, the tide can wash it up anywhere along the 210 kilometers of shoreline.

Having worked in parks and green spaces here in the UK, part of the job is the try and keep the environment as clean as possible and everyone muck, that includes management. I am surprise al you did not use litter pickers, instead bending over all time. Anyway, Natasha...well done for keeping part of lovely Georgia spotless. As an Australian the most disconcerting thing in this video was no one wearing hats while outside all day. Haven't you people heard of skin cancer! Great work just the same. We have these clean-ups here too. Though not as many as we probably need.

Definitely. I don't remember her re-purposing sound to put over other images before (the singing). I like that her videos are not overly polished and slick, and have a homespun feel to them, but I like that she's experimenting with new techniques.
