Potassium Hydroxide is alkaline not acidic. The Ph must be dropped from 15 to around 6 or 7. To do so you must add something acidic not alkaline. It's more likely pure sodium acetate (vitamin C) If your speaking of the leaching, yes, I would agree, because it will remove gold. I have often thought about trying a KOH solution. The only reason I haven't is because nobody seems to know how much gold a given amount of KOH can hold. That would be the first thing I would want to know
