Eco Tourer Tour

A look at the Eco Tourer folding caravan. This one is a 2010 model but the outside design has remained the same for all the 510 series as far as I know. There's a few differences in suspension and fitouts that are available varying from an on-road version to a independent coil sprung off road model. Single bed, double bed and shower/toilet versions are available. Ours is a double bed, no en suite model with beefed up tires/leaf springs which is not quite the full off-road version. Being fiberglass, they are a bit on the heavy side and also a bit on the pricey side - hence we bought a 10 year old s/h one.

Cheers Chook. The only thing I'm a bit apprehensive about is the weight. Might be interesting getting up Will's driveway at Kingston... The molded fiberglass does make it reasonably quiet particularly if it's windy.

Great video, thanks for all the info. How does it go with mozzies? Is it fully sealed so wont let them in? (if all windows and hatch are closed).

There is a small gap at the top of the main window where the top board folds down - one side of mine has a brush type seal but the one on the other side has gone and I get the occasional mozzie in through there along with the odd small moth. Some surface spray in those corners seems to work. Rest of the van/flyscreens seem fine except for the very smallest of insects.

The only diagrams I have seen are in the instruction manual that comes with the caravan.

I have a question for you that you may be able to answer, I was installing a diesel heater in my brothers eco tourer 2010 model the other day and we found when winding down the roof the roof was dropping and catching the corner of the cupboard inside next to the door before the wall dropped down to the point it’s cracked the window next to the door, I suspect the spring mechanism for the roof needs adjustment but not sure how to go about this, if you have any insight into this problem I would be grateful if you could share your knowledge Regards Nick

Got me stumped there - I can't see how the roof can catch anything before the walls drop. Has your brother got a shower/toilet model? I think they have a cupboard that sits high and needs to be lowered first ? - I haven't operated one of them. Tourers with Ecotourers Hints and Tips is an incredibly handy Facebook group with lots of knowledge - give them a whirl.

@@quedecree no shower, it’s like the roof comes down before the wall drops to clear it sufficiently, it catches on the corner of the cupboard next to the door, it’s like they are out of sync, if someone takes the wheight of the roof a little when it’s coming down to give the wall a chance to clear it then it’s fine

@@fantastic908 That might be a while - all beaches are closed atm with the covid 19 lockdown. I'm hoping South Australia will open it's borders to us by xmas so I can get to Kingston in January. Might be a Sandy Point run in November depending on C19. I do need to try out the Osmo Action on the gimbal under a single line kite soon though.... Actually, I've only been in the buggy once in the last two and a half years - Kingston Jan 2019 was my last run.

Looks good!! We were originally thinking of going that way, but I just have too much stuff that I want to take with me - bikes/kayak/guitar/'scope/recording gear/wife......not necessarily in that order :)
