Ecodiesel boost leak inspection - one of several causes for “service electronic throttle” message

Likes and subscribes are much appreciated and help a lot.
Some things I’ve found to cause the “throttle control message (I’ll edit these as time goes on):
1) boost leak in intercooler tubing
2) weak or failing lift pump in fuel tank
3) clogged/neglected fuel filter
In regards to a deleted truck:
For a lot of “tunes”, certain monitors and trouble codes can be eliminated or masked from coming on. If there is a problem, it’s possible for the throttle control message to come on, and truck be in limp mode, but with no trouble codes given. Ideally, you’d want to be able to flash the truck back to stock programming to determine what it is and hopefully be able to see a trouble code or clue.
Otherwise, from my experience, a boost leak and low/erratic fuel pressure between tank and injection pump are the most likely culprits.

1. Do you have to pressurize it with a tool to check for leaks with air? Or does running the engine work? 2. If it’s not any of those pipes how do I tell if the 299 is from an oil leak or failed turbo? I see oil building up on the trans under the turbo but unsure if it was just terrible oil changes or what not. I also had my diffuser tube cleaned and intake manifold replaced in the past year. Any other tips on where to look? Also- recently did the EOC stage 1 tune and engine flush (to get rid of sludge) and the P0299 came in a lot more and turned into a permanent CE code so I’m unsure if I clogged all the oil tubes and just seized up my turbo.

@@chrishardy4609 the average person can just carefully inspect all intercooler/charge air tubing and connections leaks. Check tightness of hose clamps, cracks, etc. A mechanic would have a smoke machine and adapters on hand to pressurize the intercooler tubing. Oil building up under the trans is just a leak or spillage, simple as that. Keep in mind an ecodiesel with a functioning EGr system will never have clean oil. Will turn immediately black after an oil change due to high soot contamination. Even after a delete, it will take several dozen oil changes before oil starts looking clear. But focus on your P0299 underboost code. You should inspect and clean your map sensor immediately, and check for boost leaks.

@@tadsworkshop anyway to tell if my MAP was ruined or damaged during my cleaning? I used computer parts cleaner and that got about 95% of the soot off.

@@chrishardy4609 I doubt you did any damage with that cleaner. When it doubt, you could buy a new map sensor.

Keep in the mind the service throttle light can be caused be several things. Aside from what I’m pointing out in this video, it can also be an issue with the accelerator pedal or the electrical motor of the throttle body.

@@tadsworkshop ya I put a new boost sensor in ,and cables off battery and tried a scan tool won't clear code!!

Check for boost leak, check accelerator pedal….you’ll get it eventually. What have you done so far?

@@tadsworkshop I've always just cleaned boost sensor and pipe going in manifold,I had the banks derringer on it tried to clear all codes,it would not,so bought a scan tool it wouldn't,so I returned it and took batteries cables off nothing changed!! I've noticed it struggling to start but when it does it's fine but no boost!!
