Thank you for the review. Really helpful. Hopefully you have resolved the fast charge issue that you encountered. This is a key selling point after all. I am awaiting delivery of my Delta 2 . In terms of the DC5521 3amp socket I believe that this can be used to charge a router, a rechargeable battery unit or an LED light. I also understand that an adapter can be purchased to create another 12v cigarette charger capability

Looks great, has anyone plugged a UK socket tester into the output to see if the earth pin is linked to the neutral or just floating connected to nothing (as in many Chinese ones). Just a shame also there seems to be no UK stock :(

Hello there, good comprehensive review, thank you. I recently purchased the delta 2 on a black Friday deal. Only had it less than a week, but I'm loving it so far. In the app, there is a setting for °f or °c, but I can't see a readout anywhere. Do you know where it might be, please? On my little ecoflow river, it's displayed in the app, and I think it's a very handy, good know, bit of information. Also, I don't know about yourself, but I find getting a WiFi connection to the device is a very frustrating experience. I have managed it once, thankfully, and did the latest firmware update which is nice. Anyway, great review, and thank you again.

Hi Ken, thanks for the praise. Yes the Delta 2 does have the same ups functionality. I found that it will switch fast enough to keep a desktop pc running after a mains fail.

That controller is already installed internally, accessed via the xt60i plug on the back of unit. The cigarette plug is included along with AC outlet plug.

Regarding the fast charge, was the unit recently discharged? Unit may have still had heat in batteries from the discharge.

Great video. I ordered mine today after selling my Jackery 1000w. This video reinforced my view and helped me make up my mind. I used my Jackery a few times as an EHU allowing me to use my VW T6 internal 13a sockets. But the 1000w restriction was a pain. As an EV and home battery owner temperature will always impact charging speed I think you suffered from excess heat equally cold will also slow it down. The BMS on the Ecoflow will stop charging if it is below 5c. However it can discharge from as low as -10c. Something crucial to consider if you are a skier like me and park your van in the alps.

Thanks for your great comment Mick! You are absolutely right about temperature, and I was testing in a fairly cold conservatory. In my latest video of the Bluetti AC500+B300S, Bluetti have actually included heating elements in the battery to heat up in the event of freezing weather - may be something to look out for in the future.... @@CampingSecretsUK My brand new Ecoflow blew my office RCDs when I was charging, for the 1st time, from the mains!! They replaced it after 3 days after i wrote to the CEO and told him 14 days replacement was unacceptable! I am currently charging it now, it is at room temperature of 18c with an SOC from 30% to at the mo 60%. All I can get is 640w. It has 52 mins to run and we will see. BTW my van leisure LifePo, (Powerroad), has an internal heating element. It alarmed, told me it’s too cold to charge (-10 in Austria), heated up and then started to charge within 5 mins when it reached the correct internal temperature. That’d be nice on the Delta 2

Maybe next time you might use cell phone hotspot to access wifi on the delta 2. Considering the purchase would like to know if the hotspot works. Also interested to know why input is inconsistent with what eco flow states. TYI Joel

Cheers gumbo. I contacted Ecoflow and they say that the input power is adjusted based on a number of factors including temperature. I think because I had drained the battery quickly some heat had built up which restricted the charging power. In any case, 2 hours is about 3x the speed of the competition. 80 minutes would be incredible! I'll try the hot-spot idea when I get some time. Cheers for your great comment! Marc

pretty sure there is a fast charge switch on the back like on the delta pro? next to the solar power input next to the ac port? 29:45 hmm do you have it plugged directly into mains and not through an adapter plug or extension lead? if so i'd try a different socket. also i'd check which fuse you have in the plug, i'm guessing you used the ac plug that came with it if they provide it. 32:45 very odd indeed? i'd guess it must be something to do with preserving the battery life, since i've always believed fast charge to be bad for rechargeabe batteries. 35:50 I'm really glad you did this test because i'm from the UK myself i've been looking into one of these devices after seeing the kelly's country life test of the american delta pro version. but when looking into the uk versions and trying to work out the battery life for what i'm looking to do it's been very complacated. Your test will help me out alot ;) Just need to see what the solar panels are like on the uk delta 2 though, with our typical weather we get. Good to see it can get a charge at 80watts though :)

Hi mate - great comment. Yes I need to revisit some of these tests - it's just finding the time. I've got a dining room full of power packs at the moment! haha. Yes I did use the ac plug that came with the Delta 2, but I think the max power supplied is under 10 amps on a 240V system, so I don't see any problem using a standard lead. The solar panel issue is definitely a problem in the UK - you just don't get enough sun to fully charge these things up. I'm waiting for a windmill to come out!

Have you checked the watts the Ecoflow Delta uses when there is no load on the AC-out but with the AC-out on? My Delta 2 indicates it is using like 26 watts* on the input side and 0 watts going out. So 26 watt to keep the AC-out ready to go? I was planning to use it as an UPS on my fridge but in that situation it seems to always use 18/25 watt, which is another 0,4-0.6 kWh a day which is a bit of a waiste. *A seperate powermeter actually measures 18 watt being used so Delta 2 seems to go a bit to high.

Hi Hans, yes I think there is a small amount of 'phantom' power, which is why the AC isolation circuit is there. 18-25 watts sounds alot though. How did you actually measure it?

You can change the % at which charging of the Ecoflow stops with the app. You can also turn on/off the outputs with the app

And remember that 3000 cycles will still have 80% life left. Basically you don't need to really think about this degrading unless you're charging every single day for over 10 years

Yes it did charge at 1200w for a proportion of time. I have not used it much since the review because I've been testing so many others. I will do some more testing soon

Just ordered the Delta Pro 2 on sale for $529 USD and before I checked out I googled coupon codes and dropped my price to $502 + $44 in taxes! Did I get it at a good price or do they price it for $1,000 and always have it half off? I’m ordering this product primarily for blackouts. The 6 AC ports is why I chose it, plus tons of reviews and even when the review is on another device comments within reviews mention the delta pro 2. Hopefully I picked the right one.

Maybe the firmware needs to be updated. I noticed in the APP that your EcoFlow needed its firmware updated. That might alow the full 1200 watt input charge.

Opps, sorry i spoke to soon. You updated the firmware and the input charging wattage did not go up to 1200 watts but then at 75% charge it did go to 1200 watts. maybe cycle the unit three times and test again.

@@dancarney106 thanks Dan. I spoke to Ecoflow, and it's very likely that the Delta 2 had heated up due to the rapid discharging I had done. When this happens it automatically limits the input power. Since then I've seen >1000W several times. I'm happy it works. Thanks for commenting and watching!!

I think you have to combine solar with plug in. If so there should be a way to add a charger that emulates Solar to the solar in. But really unless you need to manage a rolling blackout that is hard on the battery.

Peter - there isn't a Delta 2 Max, there's the Delta Max and the Delta Pro which are both bigger, burlier versions of the Delta 2. The naming is confusing because there is also the Delta Max Battery which is simply an expansion battery for any of the above. Choose the one with the power that you need is my recommendation. Delta 2 is pretty good on its own with 1.8kW capability

It was temperature. I had just done a big discharge at full power for an hour or so. It limits the power if there is risk of overheating

Let's be honest here, it's all well and good powering heaters and microwaves but 30min burst of a heater or running a microwave for 10 minutes but it isn't going to be very useful if the power went out. The 1800w output only becomes useful if you've spent £3k on the extra batteries so you can actually make some food and still have power for other things. It's annoying that Ecoflow don't state the efficiency on their website. If i wanted to power medical equipment during a blackout for example, losing a 150w is a huge deal when you're purchasing something to rely on. I'm glad i watched the video. Thanks

Mark (good name by the way!), yes I agree entirely with you. These are not life saving devices in that sense, and it shows how much energy is required to actually heat a room for a sustained period of time. You're also right on the efficiency which is not clearly indicated. I definitely think the LiFePO4 are less efficient than the standard Li-ion in something like the Jackery Explorer. Ecoflow do at least give an accurate estimation of remaining time which is welcome. Thanks for an excellent post

The reason for slow charge is because you must never let batteries go below 30%. Defiitely make sure firmware is updated. From deep discharge at 0, something you shouldn't really have done here to the unit, will require a slow careful charge. My River Pro and Delta mini are same. From 30%, it will take the hour and 20 minutes and that's where the calculation is based. I'd be interested to see what you find when you re-charge from when the battery is above 30%. There are only certain batteries you can safely deep discharge, such as a gel battery, but any other battery, never below 30%. :-) Regards Krystyna. Hi Krystyna, I believe that Ecoflow have put safety systems in place to avoid the problems you talk about. For instance, when it says 0%, I don't think it is really 0%. This is why the 'efficiency' is lower than expected. There is no problem going to 0% on these batteries in my experience

I for one, am so happy that they included the DC5521 to DC5525 Cable. That to me is a very important cable. This would work well with a small generator. Solar panels only work when the sun is out. Paired with a generator would make extreme reduction of fuel consumption. Yep.

Yep! This ^ If you own a solar powerplant then it makes sense to secure a cheap small generator to charge in emergency situations when sunlight is limited.

@@Camper634 im overlanding so the delta 2 was cold out of the car. It charges slow. I stop charching and let the delta at home warm up and try again and it charge fast as descript. Testet it for a serval times always same result 😉

If so you certainly came across this one: You cannot turn off the D2 while it is charging from the AC wall-outlet, instead you first have to disconnect(!) the charging cable. I don't understand the benefit behind this awkward setup. Did you find a reasoning for it? I would not know any other device that is similar complicated.

What's the use of something like this? If you prepared properly to make video, you wouldn't present your thoughts, but tell the facts and really show how things work. All I can say in my defense is that it takes so much time to test and review these power stations, that with a full time job it's not possible for me to do it to the level that you are expecting. Yes, I have not thoroughly proved every assertion I make in the video, but I try and test the majority of them. For most people watching this is OK. Obviously for you, it is not. I'll try harder in the future, but am unlikely to give you what you're after

Love my D2! My only issue? The wifi-controls. A lot of cyber hacking going on these days. I don't like the fact that they can be hijacked, shut off by govt, or the operation otherwise interfered with. And yeah.... if it is wifi adaptable? It IS HACKABLE.
