I have a similar set up. I added a generator receptacle in my garage and backfeed 120V to both legs of the 240 in my house. The advantage is I dont need 240 generator but the disadvantage is I can only run 120v appliances. For me that's not a big deal. I just bought a delta pro to replace my gas generator so I can solar charge. I mostly want to back up my freezers and fridge. Eventually I want to expand and leave the system running permanently. First time viewer, love the channel.

I have a single Delta Pro unit. I have 2 smart batteries on the way, but haven't arrived yet. My single Delta Pro ran everything in my bedroom for almost 3 days before the battery was drained. I got my Delta before the solar panel arrived and was testing it. Ayhow I had the following running over a weekend, with no issues.. 42" ledtv, Xbox SeriesX, 2 fans, phone charger and battery charger fir the xbox controller. I mainly used just the laptop, but put in about 2 hours of game time on the Xbox. I played Call of Duty on the Xbox and I also have it on my PC. Both PC and Xbox are connected to my 42"tv. With that said, my gaming escape is covered by the single Delta pro for a weekend. Looking forward to having the 2 batteries added to my system. I now have a single 400 watt solar panel and I have more on the way, just haven't arrived yet. But with gaming laptop and fans, TV, etc. My draw on the system is only around 160watts. My single 400 watt solar panel is bringing in 330watts. It is also just laying flat on my back deck, not setup for optimal use but is working perfect for my needs right now. The Delta setup is wonderful. It allows you to build on, at your own pace and I like that.

(pros and cons) * can delta pro be programed to charge only on non peak hours and discharge on peak hours so that we can use the differential rates in the tariff * have you considered using a Heat Pump Dryer (supposed to be much more efficient that the regular ones).

Great video! Can you reply with the LRA (locked rotor amps) inrush rating of your air conditioning condensing unit? How many tons is the unit? You said in the comments on the previous video that you have a soft starter on it...does your system use a TXV or a piston to regulate refrigerant pressure? The soft starter company told me that their units don't work as well with TXV systems since it holds the pressure that the compressor sees higher than a piston system, making it harder to start up and drawing more current. It would be great if you could put a clamp meter with a max setting on the wire going to the compressor to see the inrush. If it's anywhere near mine, then I think I will buy two Ecoflow units and the double voltage hub.
@kingvally
@kingvally 2 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon my friend, You must be in the industry, you are using term I never heard before. The unit states the following Metering Device TXV Indoor 52 Piston Outdoor As for the LRA where would I get that info or do I have to measure it? I have to find my clamp meter and I will get you the Inrush tonnage is 3
@browsedeweb8834
@browsedeweb8834 2 жыл бұрын
@@kingvally The LRA is usually listed on the outdoor unit serial number tag. RLA is running load amps which is your normal current draw, LRA is locked rotor amps which is your maximum startup current. Since your unit is 3 ton, it will have a lower max current draw than mine. The units looked like they handles the AC and the dryer for a number of seconds before shutting down, which is much longer than the startup inrush of an air conditioner, so these could likely start my HVAC unit. I know my unit draws about 55A when I use the clamp meter to capture the max current on startup...which is about 13kw. One of your Ecoflow units was showing about 4500 watts before it shut down, so you were likely drawing about 9kw with the dryer and ac on. Not sure if that will be enough for me, even though inrush will be less than a second. I wish I could test 2 units before buying. I may have to look into a hybrid inverter system with separate battery bank.

Only issue - the second Delta Pro I bought does not have Infinity Port! I bought it used because there was no deal to be had online when buying this second one and it's hardly used but missing the port to do this, has anyone else ran into this issue? Absurd that Ecoflow can sell a double voltage hub and just say it requires 2 Delta Pros and not mention there are units this DOES NOT WORK WITH!!!

I recently purchased two Delta Pro power stations with the Dual Voltage Hub. When I connected the DVH to the power stations I immediately get a rapid flashing white light, hear some relays clicking and error code 553 shows up on the power station displays. No voltage out on the DVH. I've been working with Ecoflow support for a couple of weeks now and they still haven't even been able to tell me what error code 553 means. VERY frustrating.

Good morning Danny I can understand your frustration, what I can't understand is why ecoflow has not offered you replacement units if they are unfamiliar with the root cause of this issue. God Bless you with a speedy resolution of this issue.

Is it true that the Delta Pro units can't charge while both connected to and powering the double voltage hub? A single unit can recharge while supplying power, since it basically passes through the input waveform. Someone on the DIY Solar forum said that their generator couldn't recharge the two units while the double voltage hub was on...only when it was turned off. He thinks this is due to the two inverter units putting out split phase waveforms 180 degrees out of phase, and the generator waveform wasn't matching. This would be a serious limitation of the Ecoflow AC input configuration.

And separate from solar, the delta pro also accepts ac charging (and more), so one could run a gas/propane generator. A DP can charge from 0 in 2 hrs (I've done it). Even if it may be a few hours to charge all 4 batteries he has, the point is that you only need to run the generator long enough to charge those. So a few hours of that could get many times more power, which is the real benefit of batteries.
@iiinsaiii
@iiinsaiii Жыл бұрын
@@CharlieArehart1 yes that true, you can charge it in a few hour with a gas or propane generator. But with one or two gas containers, how long do you think your going to last? Even with the Ecoflow gas/propane generator, it won’t be about to charge the unit with the demands of what the house is pulling. People on KZbin have 2 delta pro’s and four extended batteries to run their house. There was one guy with some good solar panels and he needed full days of sun to even get close to fully charge that system. And if he used there fast charger you would need a good gas generator to run both chargers. He will need a good amount of gas on hand to guarantee he can charge his system up when there’s no sun. And that’s the main thing what people are failing to understand and are depending too much on solar to charge there system. They will get a rude wake up call when they fine out it not working as they thought it would. One simple thing to fix it is to run test. Turn off the power to you house for a few hours to a few days and see how everything run and what you need to do to fix things. There’s going to be a lot people in the dark and upset.
@CharlieArehart1
@CharlieArehart1 Жыл бұрын
@@iiinsaiii well, I'm saying I've done it. I'm not sure what you're contending with. I said that one could charge a delta pro via gas or propane in a couple of hours. How long will the fuel last? My dual fuel generator can run for several (if not dozens of) hours on a standard propane tank or 5 gallon can. So I could run those just long enough to charge the batteries (which obviously will need more charge on days with less sun). That means one fuel tank could last me days--more if I'm careful about power use, of course. It seems you are the one missing the point here. Would you rather run a generator endlessly, using only a fraction of its power, and which stops when you turn it off? Why would you contend with the value of batteries to store that power, use ONLY what you need, and recharge that by sun or fuel? They're expensive, sure. You're paying for that very value I describe above. I do realize many cannot afford it. Heck, some can't afford a generator or its fuel. Put another way, what are you saying folks should be doing instead?
@iiinsaiii
@iiinsaiii Жыл бұрын
@@CharlieArehart1 I’m saying, you can’t depend on the sun to charge your system. That you need to have a plan B and that you need to be ready for that. And what you said about your “ dual Fuel “ generator can run “ a dozen hours off a 5lb can “ now that’s BS 😂 you know damn well you never did that. Listen…. I have a 8500watt dual fuel generator and it will only last 5-7 hours with a 20lb propane tank. But let’s say you have the Ecoflow duel fuel generator. That generator can’t keep up with the load that the ecoflow is using to power your house. All I’m saying is have a plan B. I charge my system up with solar. But there’s times that is raining for a day or more. So I need to charge with the generator. I just trying to educate people and to be aware and ready. That’s it. Not to be in dark when stuff happens.
