highly recommend having multiple redundancy appliances. Propane stove, propane water heater, wood burning stove, solar lights and having this backup battery system. Way back when... I took your advice and purchased an EcoFlow Max and extra battery. We live in an area of Rhode Island that is not prone to power outages, but it was a security blanket just in case. It sat in storage a lot. I'd bring it out when there was threat of storm. Then we had a solar architecture installed and that included 18kW of battery backup. And the EcoFlow was relegated to the back-back of my closet. Fast forward to this Summer. We have a 16 x 16 junk storage shed on our property that after 20 years became the domain of squirrels and other critters as a pine tree grew through the siding. This year, we had that shed completely cleaned out, gutted and renovated into a functional outbuilding. The building is just far enough away from the home that running electric would be difficult. Solution: The EcoFlow Max! Installed the EcoFlow rig, along with power strips to recharge power tools, LED shop and exterior lights, and mounted the solar panel on the South exterior wall of the shed. It's been working PERFECTLY. It's nice to have light out in the yard and in the shed, especially with the days getting shorter. The panel is keeping the battery topped off. Net: The shed if fully electrified and off the grid! Thank you for your videos! Had we not invested in the battery system with our solar, the rig in this video would certainly have been a great solution for our home.

Should look into the smart switch and the Eco flow propane genny. With both those installed you can have the smart panel kick the power over at ups switch speeds and when the batteries are low it will auto start the genny for you, like in the middle of the night. Only 2kw but it does fully connect/link with the system. I'm looking at the same system in the next 2-3 years for myself and that's my long term power storage. Propane doesn't really go bad like gas does and the house I am looking at already has a large tank for the stove. Would just need a new line for the genny.

one advantage of a battery system in addition to a traditional generator is you only have to run the generator part time in a long term outage. No running it 24/7 just to cover the base load. This way when the ultra batteries are plugged into an isolation panel to power 10 selected circuits. From what I understand you habe to feed back into the business owned electric grid to get the tax credits. Is this correct?

Does the DPU have dark start? Meaning if it goes to zero, and the Sun comes out, does it reignite? The Hysolis Apollo does. Much smaller company, less proven, much more expensive.

How long does it take to charge the whole thing with a generator
@rangermike95516 күн бұрын
The batteries are 6100 watts each. Assuming there is some solar I charge the 5 batteries in about 4 hours with a 240 volt 6500 watt generator. I’m happy to get it up to 80% and let it run down to 20% as that is supposed to be better for lithium batteries.

I very curious how long these batteries last. It’s already too expensive and hopefully that will change soon but with the current battery chemistry I don’t see this as viable as just a gas generator. I could never afford this in my life let alone have to potentially replace a battery module after it looses capacity.

They are rated for 3000 cycles before they lose about 5% capacity per year. So if you charged and discharged this every single day, it would work at 100% for 8.2 years and then start to slowly lose capacity. No one uses it that much though, so I would expect a 10-15 year working life from these.

Did you use you anker 3800 at all? I think we may be leaning that way. We had the same storm in Maine

Great video, love your channel! I'm hoping to find a way to power a subpanel and charge at the same time so that it effectively serves as a UPS/EPS for the whole subpanel. It seems to trip the GFCI when I try that, though, so you may want to clarify that when you talk about the ability to charge while outputting. I assume there is a ground loop that is introduced and this may be why. I have a second service that I may try later on to see if I can still achieve this. Also, just a heads up, a couple of times you say, "30 kW" when you mean, kwH. Just want to make sure no one gets confused between storage capacity and output capacity!
