If you leave the air intake inside where it can recirculate the cooler air it will run more efficiently. You’re sucking in hot air from outside and cooling it. Any ac is only going to reduce air temp by 20 degrees max. So if you recooling the air you already cooled it will get colder each time it passes through the unit.

Maybe! I also don't want to put the car in a negative pressure by doing that otherwise hot air will just get sucked in. I'm working on a better solution for the car...stay tuned! Thanks for watching!

@@theresatrickforthat your over thinking it, the negative pressure created would be negligible. You would be cooling the interior air at a far greater rate than it is sucked in. I have my eco flow mounted in my truck bed and a duct hole cut into the cab it cools the truck bed where the dogs and birds are the air from there is blown into my rooftop tent and into my cab and the exaust is vented through another hole to the outside between the cab and the truck. On a hot day parked in the shade I can get it down to 60 degrees inside the truck bed and rooftop tent and cab. Going down the road through the Mojave desert it’s stays 70-75 in 119 degree temperatures

AC units do discharge cooler air with a lower fan speed if it has a fixed speed compressor The wave 2 has a variable speed compressor, and when you turn down the fan speed, it automatically turns down the compressor speed for some reason If there's a way to hack the device to adjust the fan and compressor speed independently, you would definitely get cooler air by reducing the fan speed and keeping the compressor speed at max

The zero breeze functions a little more independently you can turn the fan speed down an get cold air that way. Would be cool if the wave operated a with a little variance. Or if the modes an speeds were preset to do that to a degree
@uhjyuff2095
@uhjyuff2095 3 ай бұрын
no hacking could work, because if the compressor runs full speed and the fans don't run at full speed the coils will frost up and then the cooling power is reduced. Also, Icing can happen when the air filter gets restricted.

Thanks, very interesting experiment. I was hoping you were going to ride off the Delta 2 Max again and show how much battery at used but I appreciate this video all the same. My goal is to get this and Delta to Max I think. This definitely proves that the other little portable air conditioners on the market aren't worth bothering with unless you're just going to sit still with it blowing in your face 😅. I'm hoping to get this to use in a small cargo trailer camper. I want to use the trailer sometimes and utilitarian sense and other times I want to toss in my camping gear and a cooler / heater and a good battery bank with a couple 400 watt solar panels and head out. The only other thing I really want that's going to use much electricity is a dual-zone fridge. Definitely curious how it works as a heater as winter comes on. Thank you

Oh don’t worry! I’ve got runtime tests using the Delta 2 Max coming up! We’re going to test cooling runtime and heating runtime. So stay tuned for that! Yes, I certainly wouldn’t get a portable A/C that’s smaller than the Wave. Sounds like a great multi-purpose trailer build you’re going to have! Best of luck with it! Thanks for watching and commenting!

@theresatrickforthat I don't have an unlimited budget but I find investing in the best option to be smart in most situations. I don't feel any the Delta Pro because I wouldn't be able to carry around enough solar to really recharge it anyway so the Delta 2 Max seems like a sweet spot for high functionality yet it weighs half as much. I really don't see the point of the dedicated battery for the wave to since it's so expensive and so limited in its functionality both in having to charge it on the unit, it being significantly slower to charge and it's ultimately extremely limited capabilities outside of just being a battery for the Wave 2 and that's why I was looking at getting the Delta to Max to run it and a cooler. I can just charge my phone up in the car and I have a 3 small battery Banks that could charge my phone at least once per night so I wouldn't have to burn through the bigger batteries. Also looking to get a tool fan for circulating air, possibly something from rigid or similar and just get a bridge adapter because I have rigid tools I share with my dad... Trying to get multifunctional everything cuz I don't want this to balloon out of control financially

I like it! You and I are quite similar in our thought process…I didn’t bother to buy the dedicated Wave 2 battery, but did get the Delta 2 Max for all the reasons you said. Makes so much more sense and adds way more functionality across the board! I think you’re certainly on the right track to maximize your setup in the best cost ratio possible!

What about not intaking air from the outside, but rather recirculating the cold air?
@theresatrickforthat
@theresatrickforthat Ай бұрын
I was recirculating the cooler air on the cold side of the unit. And then was venting the hot side of the unit through both hoses which is the most efficient solution. I wouldn’t want to only vent with a single hose as that would place my car in a negative pressure and cause more hot air from outside the vehicle to get sucked in. Thanks for watching!

It probably would cool. But as much heat coming through from the sun since their like tin cans. It wouldn’t start really cooling until the temp of all the interior seats floor an all started to eventually cool some than yould start dropping temp. But I’m sure ecoflow actual test was done in a purpose build insulated room of the size they claim. Like perfectly ideal situation where they get their claims from.

After 8 months what is your honest opinion of the wave2 I’m on my 3rd replacement Yet again it’s got to go back Pls tell me your thoughts 💭 on the wave2 Mine blows cold air to the left Is sitting on the right gets hot 🥵 Hot air leaks out the bottom and mix with the cold air coming out 🤦 The wave2 is an embarrassment to other Ecoflow products My wave2 when plug into AC consumes 70wats when switched off 🤦 Imagine the bill 💸 at the end of the year if you don’t unplug it 🤦 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦‍♀️ Not very eco in my eyes 👀

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had such difficulty with yours! I still have and use my original one that you see in the video. Here’s what I think…you’ve got to understand how the Wave works and its limitations in order to have success with it . You’re absolutely right about the air blowing out one side. And there is phantom power that gets drawn by the unit even when it’s off too. You’re right about that too. I’ve pointed that out in other videos I’ve made about the Wave you may want to watch. Finally, it is a portable unit and even with dual hoses and everything, when you bring the hot condenser into your conditioned space…not matter how much insulation, etc. there’s going to be hot air that leaks into your space. It’s just a fact. Case in point, I have an out building that’s 15’ x 15’ square. It’s got fully insulated walls and ceiling and high energy efficient windows. I used to have a 14,000 BTU dual hose portable AC out there and when the outside temps got into the 90’s it would struggle to cool the building down to 76 degrees. If it got into the 100’s outside, it wouldn’t cool the building below 80 when no one was in the building. As soon as you added a person or two body heat out there, it would struggle even more! Fast forward to a few years ago, and I installed a 12,000 BTU mini split in that building. The thought being that it and the portable AC would work together on the hot days. Well guess what? The mini split that has 2,000 BTU’s handles the cooling needs of that outbuilding with no sweat no matter how hot it gets and I’ve gotten rid of the portable unit all together. I’ve been out there on a 100 plus degree day, with three other people, working on 4 laptops with lights on all of which generate heat…and the mini-split can freeze us out and drop that building into the 60’s. It’s pretty insane! And the craziest part is that the mini-split does that using about 50% less power than the portable unit. So I think the Wave 2 is a similar story. It’s a miniatureized portable unit. If they took the same device, but made it in two pieces with some kind of quick connect/disconnect refrigerant lines so that the condenser lived outside your space and the evaporator was inside…we’d probably see a huge improvement to its performance. Look at all the Facebook groups about the Wave and you’ll see some crazy feats of insulation and jerry rigging to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Wave. More power to them! For me, I just use my Wave as it is…but understanding how it works helps me with my expectations. I rarely use it to cool a space (except for when we go stay at my parents house…which is always hot for me to sleep well so I use the Wave to temper our bedroom…but I vent it by leaving the door to the hallway open wide enough for the hoses to go out there so I’m not pulling in outside air) rather I use it most of the time as a personal air conditioner and I don’t use the hoses or anything. You know, you go to the blazing hot parade and I stick the Wave on the ground and have it blowing directly on me. Work great! Or I’m on my patio eating and it’s hot out so I’ll bring the Wave out and let it blow cool air on me. That’s mostly how I use it. Anyway, I love my Wave but I agree the claims to what it can do are overly optimistic and it has some shortcomings. Hope this helps!
