in this video I am mending some clothes and talking about how I save money as a minimalist. Living a sustainable minimalist life, I mend my clothes to be able to use them for longer. That also saves me a lot of money because I don´t have to buy new things as often. Also I am talking about my shopping habits, how I travel in a sustainable and inexpensive way and how I try to keep my overall cost of living small while still enjoying my life.

I wish it hadn't taken me as long as it did to discover that the secret to having enough money has nothing to do with making more money but simply spending less. I spent my early 20s spending recklessly and then my late 20s paying the price. I've spent my 30s making virtually no money and being happily debt-free and even saving money. I'm not a minimalist in all aspects of my life but when it comes to money minimalism has taught me so much.

Being frugal means you get good value for the money you spend. It doesn’t mean not spending money. Spending more money on higher quality items that match your values (sustainable for example) and that you will love and use for years, if not decades, is part of the minimalist mindset.

It's so true what you say! An important value of mine is buying things in a sustainable way and I am willing to spend more money for that. My priority is not being financially free (never having to work again) by 35 so that is what works for me. ☺

If the item can be fixed then of course it's a good idea to do so. I really take care of my things and they normally last at least a few years. I know my style and I know what I need in my lifestyle. We can buy quality clothing used or buy economic but take care of it. If something is made cheaply it could have been expensive or cheap. I have paid for cheap clothing that I still have and wear. The price was great and so was the quality.

I never wore linen until we moved to Germany but now I LOVE IT. ❤️ I try and mend/repurpose our clothes too! I like tying my shirts to hid the holes I get at the waistline. Cool video idea. 😎

Aaah... my pockets get holes too, all the time. And I cracked a lot of seams when rushing it in the morning. But I actually like to have a few more items today (compared to my time as an extreme minimalist / furniture-free minimalist)... Because that way my clothes aren't worn out as fast and I can enjoy them many years. I even tend to buy several pieces of one if I find something that I like. However, I also like to shop secondhand mostly, so that is often not possible (one tip here though, I really like the search features of Vinted, and I buy a lot from Vinted... so I actually did buy a cardigan there twice hehe! Recommendations here!)

Hello :-) Agnieszka from Poland. I found your channel yesterday and I love it! I'm watching movie after movie and we have a lot in common. I'm also a minimalist, I like to fix things rather than buy new one, but I see that I still have a lot to do with my minimalism. Maybe because keeping things and being sorounded by them make you feel comfortable at some point. Kisses from Poland I'm knitting a blouse while watching. I would be very happy I you had made a movie how to knitt your own socks xD kisses from Poland keep up the good work!

And this is why I want to build my tiny house and this is so that I can be semi off grid and it also allows me to be more in control of my own finances. I love people who look after their belongings and are prepared to fix them if they need fixing. I also love getting my stuff off the side of the road, (chuck out )and I have taught myself how to restore beautiful old wooden furniture that would normally cost a fortune in the shops.🍃☮️🍃Out..

That sounds amazing! I really love doing things by myself as well and also really like to restore and reuse other people's trash/things they put somewhere for people to take for free/things from secondhand stores... ☺

Just found you and living the way you talk and live all together :) I have a 2 years old boy and I am given so much clothes that I seriously don't need to buy a thing and I really keep decluttering already, coz it's just too much, I would love you to show his wardrobe completely as you shown yours, would you please? Would he allow us to see it? :)

I will think about that! And yes I definitely have that problem as well... When he was smaller it was even "worse" I mean it is amazing that people want to give him clothes but it was just too much... Now we are still always balancing too much and not enough ☺
