The community level (cultural values, norms) slide was very interesting. The overlap between students (not medical professionals, btw. not yet) who thought “masks are a good thing” and “BLM is a good thing” is quite notable. Considering everything that has come out about BLM’s distinct anti-semitism and it’s function as a piggy bank for Patrisse Cullors and her ilk, it calls into question the decision-making of these people, and their likelihood to be swept up in a scam due to community influences. I do appreciate the differences between the two models and I feel the ecological model is more applicable to my dissertation, as I intend to quantitatively assess the sexual health-related knowledge, attitude and practice among university students. Hi Ralph! Glad you found the video helpful! As for which model to use, they are very different and it depends on what you are trying to learn as they both can be useful in the appropriate application. I am a big fan of letting the evidence guide me - what I mean by this is to get really comfortable in your knowledge of both (and other?) models and the body of literature that pertains to your specific question. Then, instead of forcing the use of a model, the appropriate model will become clear when you really understand what you are trying to study and how you want to show it. I know that is vague! But this process will also help you defend WHY you chose the model you chose when you are presenting with confidence. Best of luck to you!
