Hi, I used to use the very same timer by CBI, first the non touchscreen version, then the Digital touchscreen. In fact I've used 6 thus far as I installed 2 each time in the DB. The battery back up has become such an issue for me, that I'm now going to use another Brand's Analogue 24 hour timer. I really like this CBI timer, but I cant be spending R450 every year on a timer. Since Im bad with keeping receipts, etc, Im going the alternative route. Lets see how it goes. Cheers

I've also got this timer and will probably replace it due to the capacitor loosing power after loadshedding. Please advise what's the ideal schedule if we need hot water around 7am for showers, then again for a short while at night and use warm water early mornings around 5am (just basin)
@ecologicaltime5 жыл бұрын
the new model should not do that by the way. My old ones used to do that. I have mine to switch on about 45-60 mins before i need the hot water in the early morning. I have it one for 90 mins then its off for most of the day until about 3pm where its on until 7pm. I reduce the thermostat temp on the geyser to 45 degrees as well. Geyser is Kwikot 150l.

@ecologicaltime6 жыл бұрын
the unit is faulty. It has a super capacitor as a battery and if it looses time its faulty. Return to supplier. CBI offer 12 or 18 month return warranty. had two that did that.

@@dickiewilken Same issue here. In my case the program I set is still there but the clock sets back to zero. I used the bypass function while we had daily load shedding this week but and that too does not keep its memory after the power returns. Manufacturing date 2016W17. Date of purchase 2 December 2016 which means its over 2 years. I wonder if they will still take it back, there must be a problem with this batch or they are too finicky.

How do you replace the battery/capacitor?
@ecologicaltime5 жыл бұрын
have to open it which means breaking the glued seals. First have to remove the cream colour plastic frame cover. Then split the bottom from the top with a flat screw driver at the seems. It uses a super capacitor so unless you got one of those, dont bother.

@oupamatlakala5 жыл бұрын
Is it normal when the power goes off (load shedding) and them comes on again that they geyser stays off, this is so frustrating. 😤
@ecologicaltime5 жыл бұрын
I am assuming you have programmed the timer and that the geyser was supposed to come on. In that case, no the timer should have the geyser on after load shedding is over. But if your power is off for a long time, the little super cap (battery) in this timer may deplete and the timer does not go back to the correct position. The newer models dont have this problem.

My CBI loses time every other day, every two days I must set the clock. Can you advise what to do.
@ecologicaltime4 жыл бұрын
the older CBI units lose time when they are disconnected from electricity supply. They used a super capacitor which i think didn't last enough time to keep the memory. Newer ones do not have this problem, can be off for 2 days and when your supply comes online, it still keeps settings.

@Enlightenment2463 жыл бұрын
The worst timer ever imaginable, you basically need a degree to work this rubbish. It does not have an on/off switch that you can just use and after load shedding you need to get up in the middle of the night in order to catch the pump running to do the backwash. I am not an idiot but this timer is finicky and you need to get in the pool company every time we need the timer programmed.
