I have been designing an e-commerce website for my business. The way that i did this was to pay for a short SEO course and watch a few youtube videos. I then watched a few of yours. Just launch my ecommerce website 2 days ago. I gotta say, I feel like I launch my website to soon, I don't know anything about SEO or any marketing strategy besides FB. But heck, I always learn through experience, and thanks to videos like these I can give myself a fighting chance to drive traffic to my website and hopefully succeed. I'll give myself 3 months if I feel like I did everything I can, but my page is still at the very bottom of google then I'll just switch to another niche and use everything I learn to succeed in that niche. I'd like to see you on Udemy. I paid a small fee to learn how to build a KZbin channel. The guy teaching the course was great like yourself. He showed us his personal experience with traffic and ranking when first started on KZbin as well as Udemy. In a very short time frame he had tons of cross marketing between these two and landed some gigs for work on the side. I feel like you could easily set up a Udemy course and gain a lot of attention and cash worldwide. The guy that I was taking the course from, used half of his KZbin videos in his course. I've been working with your "Ecommerce SEO: The Definitive Guide", doing an audit/upgrade on the SEO that I used for my site when I transitioned to Shopify. I really appreciate how you show each step involved - it makes it easy to pinpoint the gaps in my work. Once I'm done with infrastructure, I'll cycle back to blogging (with my keywords in hand). My observation about content marketing for an ecomm site is this - the competitive ecomm sites that I benchmark don't have any content marketing at all. Nada. Yet, their domain authority is much greater. I guess I could use MOZ or maybe SEM Rush to identify their backlinks and try to find similar types of backlinks. Generally, high authority backlinks come from industry publications - which I can get, as long as I buy advertising or advertorial. I'm a solopreneur, so I really don't have a lot of time to devote to contacting other sites for backlinks. I've had some sites contact me, but it doesn't seem to be a common practice in ecomm. How should I approach all of this? Thanks for all the help.

Yes, reverse engineering their backlinks could help. But ultimately, to boost your domain authority, you'll need content + email outreach. Not easy but worth it.

I have an active email list of 3500 or so that I've built via advertising mostly (FB, Pinterest, Shopping Campaigns), but I can't afford to build the business solely with advertising. Your guide says organic SEO can contribute up to 30% of traffic...that's a decent bump - enough to take time out of the content/blogging to make sure the basics are in place. I'll prioritize the return to content generation over chasing backlinks. Thanks, that's what I need to figure out!

Very Nice Brian, Blogging is not enough, its part of it. E-commerce for a year nothing is happening, the theme is poor, images need a major upgrade. Now, the store needs SEO tricks without going black hat. I am thinking the white hat is better. The big thing I can't focus on sites if I am building sites and SEO. Sales or Sites E-com requires product updates, taxes, shipping and CS. I am thinking may need to start over and rethink this with your help.

Some were previously known, but some (especially the magnet and modifiers tips.) were new to me. According to my direct mail advertising books from days of yore, the most attention-getting word in the English language is "Free," followed closely by "Sale." So I assume that these are still valid, and should be added to the top of the modifiers list?
