It works so well, it’s easy to forget the harpsichord was a renaissance instrument. If Scott Joplin might have been able to play a harpsichord in his time, we might have had a resurgence of harpsichord popularity.

Thank you! Great interpretation and visuals. I also have a 1968 Dowd and it sounds very similar. I think our two instruments may have been together back then :D

They must have been! Back there in the Dowd workshop, like a couple of elves. Mine is a Blanchet . What's yours?

Ragtime music goes surprisingly well on a harpsichord considering the music and instrument are separated by about 100 years.

@@ElaineComparone I am not, this was just a funny line from the movie 'The Sting' where this piece, you playing so beautifully, was used.
Anyone who plays a rag in the Key of C automatically gets the badge of honor.
@ElaineComparone2 жыл бұрын
I'd have to look at the score again to see if it was in C Major or A-flat. It's been a few years sinceI read the score and memorized it. I used to play this piece by heart! And I don't have perfect pitch! (My father did, but I didn't inherit that!)
@bootman262 жыл бұрын
I don't have perfect pitch, either, but the original is in the key of C Major, a deadly key for ragtime. I think Joplin did that to make sure the player would keep the tempo a little slower than usual.
@bootman262 жыл бұрын
Also, I failed to mention the video footage was a perfect accompaniment.
@bootman262 жыл бұрын
I see you also made a recording of the Maple Leaf Rag, which is in A-flat Major.

@@bootman26 Interesting assumption!

again, works wonderfully on haprsichord, i feel like haprscihord jazz/ragtime is alittle underapreciated,
