It would be interesting to do an update that includes the cost of rolling stock and how whether the Gov would purchase the rolling stock or rent of the stock owners. This nationalisation only is a part of the story.

Well, the arguments are interesting, but empirical evidence is better than theoretical debate. In France, the rail is state-owned. It's the cheapest in europe, one of the most efficient, quickest, reliable. Privatization is bullshit. Debating is nice, but looking at what works and what doesn't is better. Even Germany is more expansive than France's SNCF. The guys who invented liberalism strongly advocated against rail privatization (among several sectors, such as energy, communications, posts, etc), and rightly so.
