Eve player here. Really enjoyed this series as of yet. Tho I did have a linguistic issue to clarify. You mentioned that the Imperium is a player nation. In the loosest of terms, yes? It's more of an entity than a nation akin to an organised form of the EU. The Imperium is a coalition of alliances. Allianced are entities made up of corporations, and corporations are made up of players. And it's held together by incentive and culture, but any player could leave whenever they want, let alone any alliance (which happened during World War Bee)

IF someone actually builds it, maybe the devs could add an upgrade or two (only one at a time allowed though). Perhaps a “star killer base” death beam that can reach incredible distances across dozens of systems. Or a jump gate that allows instantaneous travel to ANY galactic location for massive fleets, as well as BACK to the base for extractions. With long cool downs between each items use, of course. Allow players to target either the station (incredibly high hp) or the upgrade separately (much lower hp), giving players a tactical choice of offense/defense

Hi, do you consider to make SIMULATION on paper what will be happening in EVE online if one corporation makes 10 keep star stations annual or 10,000 titans per year and sell them to other corporations in-game. because I think if there will be so big supply of space stations or titans this will make bigger battles -> massive amount of destroyed ships -> very big demand to more ships -> bigger demand for resources and work to make them-> resources prices on elevated levels-> more wars and battles because players need more resources-> so more demand to titans and keep stars stations-> and what next can you show your thoughts what will be happened. I remember the pre titan era and the first titans, their fleet killing weaponry was also way better than it is now. Add the oft abused mechanic to shove enemy fleets outside the safety of their shielded stations made a single one way more of a tactical asset than they are now. That they are used to kill NPCs to make money is kind of an indication of how CCP misjudged them and the player base's willingness to break stuff. Cool channel, subscribed.

It would get nuked within a day, as you get war decced by everyone. But you would still be the winner even as it burns. Because you did something that will always out shine everything they'll do. Would be fun if they implemented a design and modeling department. Where you can build and design ships and space stations. Where the price of the ship/station is based on what mass, or materials its built out off or how many weapons slots there is. Of course, maybe having the devs see the designs first before implementation. Its just an idea. But i think it would improve realism and variability.

titan's or any item for that matter should never be balanced around prize. that was there mistake if you want a large capital ship that turns the tide off battle in the game you should expect every one will want one and try there best to get it. that is all that happened a titan is so powerful so, every one wanted one. so the foundations where layed to be able to build more and more and now every one has one and the balance off cost is gone leaving no other factor to balance them.

For sure. However, i'm 100% sure the CCP team debated this, but ended up not doing it like that because titans/super-caps represented an "ultimate" treadmill goal... players would spend years getting into a titan/super and then, after CCP already had their money, realize that they didn't really end up getting any new gameplay from their huge effort.

What I didn't like was the footage on the videos, as a start most (all) of them are repeated through the 3 videos and secondly, I hate seeing a game like EVE be advertised which such videos when the gameplay is far from that. You can spend 200 hours playing and never be part of a battle like thos shown. Im not taking away the fact that EVE is more of a clicker-economy-strategy game, but if that is the case dont make videos showing complex ship maneuvers and intense battles where the most you are gona be able to do is click a box to activate weapons and thats it. worst of all is that im not exxagerating. I played EVE before trying Star citizen, and god do I feel good for having changed. But leaving that aside, your explanations on this games economy are simply awesome and very informative.

Great video (series) on Eve and economy. Quick question, do you see the economy of Eve as an example of an enirely capitalistic one, or are there policies that hinder the absolutely free market? What can be learned from these policies, or their lack absence?
@EconomicsExplained
@EconomicsExplained 5 жыл бұрын
It is certainly closer to a pure capitalistic market than any country on earth, the big distinction is the lack of rules around fraud and scamming. Scams are A OK in eve and because of that there are certain markets like securities market (stocks bonds etc) that just don't exist.
@leehams3079
@leehams3079 5 жыл бұрын
As EE said, the market is pure capitalist. One of the biggest effects of the market, between the limited supply of materials and the vast coffers of some players, it is entire possible, and has been done many time, to "pump and dump" items. Basically, buy up ALL of an item, jack its price up, then resell it since you now control the majority volume of it. Market manipulation is one of the best sources of income in the game, but it take a lot of wits and a LOT of cash to pull it off. For low volume items, it can still take about 10-20 billion isk to pump and dump it. For higher volume items, it can take well in excess of 100 bil to completely control the market for that item. There is only 1 "policy" that really restricts the market from going totally haywire, and that is the tax rate. All market sales are taxed at a percentage of the sell order cost. They just recently raised it from its historic value of 2% up to 5%. Thus, its not plausible to do super high volume, fast turnaround trading for low margins, you must pick and choose your battles to ensure profit can still be made on the market. The last restriction I can think of off the top of my head is sourcing for all items in the game. As it currently stands, it is incredibly difficult to 100% lock down production of a particular item to prevent others from making it. Some items come predominantly from some areas, but almost nothing is purely exclusive, and even then it would be down to an alliance or coalition to enforce an export ban, but individual members will always be looking to sell their items to the highest bidder in the trade hubs. So while buying up all of an item or restricting exports can work, it never will work indefinitely. If you have any other questions, I play EVE, so feel free to ask.

Eve Player since June 2003 (beta before that). Let me tell you young ones a story. Back when it took a group of 5 players a couple of weeks to gather the materials to build a Tier 1 cruiser. The ship balance was different then so people put them in tiers. You would naturally then use that cruiser to expand into other areas for more profit that were more dangerous and you sweated it out the entire time because that represented weeks of work that could be lost rather quickly. That was fantastic rush of adrenaline to be rushing in your frigate to save the cruiser you helped to build. Those are the days I miss. When it took more effort and it felt it to be more risky. Now naturally I would expect over time things to get easier but I felt things have become too easy. That is why I hope based on the perspective you put on that structure at the end that they scale that into Titans somehow. Slowly at first to give players time to adjust. Then pass it down to other capital ships. Cruisers were once described as the workhorse of a fleet with battleships being something only a corporation could own. Do you know how many battleships I have owned in my Eve career? But I would like this line of thinking to be introduced to capital ships.

@edawgrules
@edawgrules 5 жыл бұрын
There are definitely cycles in the price of products. E.g. The price of PLEX (which can be purchased for real currency) usually decreases when CCP has a sale, increasing the supply. By following the release of patches and predicting how this will affect the market, one can make ISK. But, as EVE is massively complex, predicting trends can be very difficult.

To put that into context the most expensive warship on the planet is the USS - Gerald R Ford which is the lead ship of Americas 3rd? generation supercarrier is only worth a combined ESTIMATED of 17.5 billion and the most expensive thing we as a species have built and own now is the international space station worth 150 billion USD and to build those giant stations you'd need 114 people MINIMUM with the most efficient mining ships working 24 hours straight, or you can double (228) or triple (342) that number and the number of ships, so that everyone merely has to work oh yeah thats right 8 hour shifts and don't forget the escort fleets and all their support ships that much will spiral this project into 6840 working at a 10 - 1 ratio of miners to support however if i was the one trying to manage this operation i'd want a flat minimum of 13.68 thousand for a 20 - 1 ratio. To make this even worse you need to pay them alongside paying for construction and this is considering the escort is enough of a threat to get raiders to fuck off if not those attacks could push back from 1 year to . . . over 4 to 6 years. I'm a fucking nerd that much is simply to gather resources you will need to form a "super coalition" to get it built in a reasonable time which i imagine would be the coalition smaller then yours merging into your one and who fucking knows how long negotiations and diplomacy would take and there is one small problem. If you want to attempt a hostile takeover you risk war where you could either win everything or loose it all and then your right back at square one. TLDR: It would be simpler and better building a horde of titans then to build that station. But someone will probably gather their coalition and try it anyway

This is amazing. And not a joke. This is something a lot more complex. - - - - This when humans realize that “factions” are obsolete and the human race is already a “faction”. This is when we realize that more can be achieved if 100% of the race works towards one goal. That’s the next step in human evolution, and this game is showing us that. -This represents a milestone for the human race. That thing will be shot down as soon as the reinforcement timers are over. The whole of eve will fight together vs the entity that build it, just for a shiny killmail :) There is noway this structure will ever be up for longer then a month. The only way i see this structure actually being anchored for longer is when already a few of them have been shot down, and there aren't such big bragging rights to be gained from killing (the first) one. Problem with it, it's not that 'special' if you compare it to a normal Keepstar. If it would have like 10 times the stats of a normal one, with more added bonus to it, then some entity like Goons MIGHT get interested.
