Power failures are inevitable in this lifestyle of ours. It's going to happen sooner or later. If I had this ecotech battery backup I could have avoided the devastation I recently went through in my own FishKave.
Don't let that be you! Ensure your tank is prepared to take care of itself when no one is around and the power fails!

I would ask for 1 fish tank. Honestly tanks should be 30 gallons I think for the best performance. I would try to hardline for at least 20 gallon mention dimensions. It's easier to screw up your tank water chemistry with smaller volumes, what I really mean is that it's easier for the poop and food waste to take over. I think also larger tanks are easier to maintain and cycle in a way. Fish are probably a lot less less stressed in bigger environments with larger quantities of the water there used too , and at the same time your reducing a lot of nitritates with all that water change. Plus if you have to change water like 50 percent, I think fish people agree larger the tank the safer it is for 50 percent water change.

What might come in handy is to use a computer battery backup. I have a few high-end backups that I use to put a few towers and big monitors. They can be used to power Ware makers and Airstones and depending on the filters, take that load on as well. I have a home generac for the home that kicks in after 45 seconds of lost power. the battery backup keeps the power courage to zero. Just a thought

Another good option Kev for air pumps is Aquarium Coop sells a single port and a dual port lithium battery/ ac powered air pumps while plugged in it charges the lithium battery and when power fails it just keeps running. Also they are variable output as well. I have them on all my tanks I love them and they are quiet and work very well. Also as you mentioned lot of different backup power methods that is an essential tool needed for the fish keeper.

@@bksmotherman yes sir that is correct I'm running sponge filters in each of my tanks using the aquarium coop pumps except in my big tank I'm running a 4 inch air stone with one of those pumps. It's just a matter of preference some folk like air and some folks don't.

Good advice, i think a lot of people probably don't think of these things until its too late.. so always good for a reminder. Id recommend with those cheaper B11 bubblers to double check they work like shown here, simulate the power outtage. Ive had one before that was defective from a wire not connected properly when manufactured... Didn't realize it until there was a power outtage.. had other backups so was fine.. but gotta check periodically that your backups are in good working order.

Before I bring my fish to their new expanded basement fish room I'm going to spend the big bucks to get a whole house backup generator or more likely solar with battery back up. Hi Thanks for your helpful information on this hobby, and my condolences for your 3 beautiful fish you lost, I sat up my fish tank with the help of your information, and so far, it was good, but I have a question that I couldn't find answers from local fish stores, My african cichlids' side fins base (fins joints to the body) turned bloddy red, until the last week it was only one fish, but now almost all of them have it. And some of their mouth turned reddish, too What can I do about that? Should I worry? Am I losing my tank? Thanks.

Thats because it's hard to pin point a specific time. Some say after a few hours without oxygen the bacteria inside will die off. BUT, I've accidentally left my valves closed for over 12 hours and it had no effect when reopening the filters. No ammonia spike or bacterial bloom, which leads me to believe I had little to no beneficial bacteria loss. But thats all speculation 🤷‍♂️

Man, I'm sorry you has to go through that. Are you ever gonna give the rays a 3rd chance? 75 gallon Stocking question I currently have a 75-gallon aquarium with 7 huge congo tetras. My stocking ideas were to have 1 good-sized piece of driftwood and a ton of live plants. For fish, I was thinking 3 angels (possibly different colors) 2 electric blue acaras, 1 apisto (probably one of the red kinds so no aggressive behavior from the acaras), 1 corbensis (is that a good idea?), and possibly down the road some cory cats or a bristle nose pleco. Is this a good stocking list? What would you change up? I'm open to suggestions. (And I want the ton of plants because boy I get an earful about the water bill 😂)
@KaveManAquatics
@KaveManAquatics Жыл бұрын
I dont have a lot of experience with those species of fish so I really couldnt tell you if they would all work well together. The tons of plants will help in keeping the water clean and nitrates down, but it may not really make a (big) dent in your water bill as water changes are still highly beneficial.
